Open Thread: Game 108 - A's at Minnesota

New, 223 comments

The A's and Barry Zito with a 10-8 record and a 3.72 ERA take on the Twinkies and Kyle Lohse with a 7-10 record and a 4.49 ERA.

The A's look to take the series from the Twinks with a win today. The A's suffered a heartbreaking defeat yesterday, so we'll see how they rebound today with the July pitcher of the month on the mound. That being Barry Zito.

The A's offense has looked less than imposing over the last few games, but it could also be the fact that they are facing a quality pitching staff. Let's just hope that the team struggles don't return. Bobby Crosby's has crashed back down to earth. He is hitting only .208 since the All-Star break and particularly concerning, his slugging percentage is .286 since the break. Let's hope that changes and changes soon or this offense could go into a deep funk again.

The lineup looks like this:

Kendall
Swisher
Crosby
Chavez
Johnson
Kielty
Hatteberg
Payton
Scutaro

Kotsay gets another day to rest the back while Swisher hits second in the lineup. He's only been in that spot for 14 at-bats, but he has a .412 OBP and an 1.126 OPS hitting second. We'll see if that continues.

The Twinks counter with this lineup:

Stewart
Castro
Ford
LeCroy
Jones
Morneau
Cuddyer
Redmond
Bartlett

Perhaps we should be a little more careful with Cadaver today, no?

LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!!
