The A's and Barry Zito with a 12-10 record and a 3.49 ERA take on the Angels and Shrek with a 17-6 record and a 3.34 ERA.
Shrek has been lights out since the All Star break and Barry Zito has been nearly the same. So we'll probably end up with an 8-6 game.
The A's are 6-1 on their road trip and seem to have fixed their offensive woes, but it's a different story when you do it against Tigers and Orioles pitching.
The good news is that Crosby is back and in the starting lineup:
Interesting that the A's are going with three right-handed bats at the top of the lineup. Colon is a fly ball pitcher against lefties and a ground ball pitcher against righties (.69 ground out to fly out ratio against lefties and 1.32 against righties), although righties have a .257 batting average against Shrek and lefties have a .244 average. Then again, Mark Ellis is so hot right now, you have to leave him near the top of the order.
The Angels counter with this lineup:
Interestingly, the Angels have shuffled their lineup accordingly. Bengie Molina has pounded Zito this season, especially in an earlier game in Anaheim when he went 3-3 with a double. The A's pitched around Guerrero in the last series and that move is designed to prevent that. We'll see if it works.
LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!!
