The A's and Danny Haren with a 10-10 record and a 4.04 ERA take on the Orioles and John Maine with a 1-0 and a 1.50 ERA.
Haren has lost three consecutive starts after the A's won 14 in a row with Haren starting. Of course the A's scored just one run for him in his last three starts. Unless you're Lefty Grove or Chief Bender, that's not a lot of run support.
This is Maine's second major league start and fourth appearance. Maine had a 4.56 ERA in Ottawa of the International League, but he was also second in the IL in strikeouts with 111. Maine shut down the Blue Jays completely in his last start and he's the type of pitcher that scares me. The A's are so religiously about studying a pitching that they often don't fare well against pitchers when they don't have a lot of tape on him.
We shall see. Bobby Crosby gets a day off today (I'm wondering if he's injured because he was awesome yesterday).
The A's lineup looks like this:
The Orioles counter with this group (has anyone actually heard Palmeiro's explanation he's promised yet?):
Let's get five in a row, guys.
LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!!
