Open Thread: Game 128 - A's at Baltimore

Welcome to the WB, the network that is lavishly praised by both viewers! I know many of you tuned in for tonight's regular lineup: Andre Dawson's Creek at 8:00pm and Party of Five Wild Card Contenders at 9:00pm. However, we are pre-empting our normal prime time programming today in order to bring you a special episode of The Joe Kennedy Experiment. {Note: If your TV set gets better reception on FOX, you can watch the simulcast on FOX's So You Think You Can Hit Eric DuBose?}

Talk about log jams. The A's enter play today trailing the Angels by only one game in the loss column, still in a three-way tie for the AL wild card. Meanwhile, the NL wild card race shows five teams separated in the loss column by two games. Thankfully, the Padres (63-64) have opened up a 6.5 game lead in the NL West, or I couldn't take all the tension.

Today's "fun fact": 15 of the 30 major league teams would be leading the NL West right now, and the Brewers would be tied. Ok, that fact isn't so much "fun" as it is "sad".

The starting lineups show Kendall leading off and Ellis batting 7th, despite the fact that for the season Kendall's OBP is .341 overall, .348 against LHP, while Ellis' OBP is .366 overall, .380 against LHP. However, the career numbers--both overall and vs. LHP--do favor Kendall.
