Open Thread: Game 90 - A's vs. Rangers

The A's try to make it six in a row this afternoon in a rare game that is not being televised. Apparently, that's because all the possible cameramen refused to work today's game; I have no idea why. Anyway, Kenny Rogers makes the start for Texas opposed by Joe Blanton, who only attacks hitters.

How much does the count matter to a pitcher like Blanton? Here are some stats to gnaw on as you listen to the game while you are gardening, working on the car, knitting, paying bills, creating bills, curing leprosy, driving across town, or playing with your naughty bits. Against Blanton:

  • from an 0-2 count batters hit .068, but from a 2-0 count they hit .354
  • from a 1-2 count, batters hit .169, but from a 2-1 count, they hit .406
Starting lineups:

Delucci
Young
Teixeira
Blalock
Soriano
Mench
Matthews Jr.
Hidalgo
Alomar

Kendall
Kotsay
Crosby
Chavez
Kielty
Payton
Swisher
