Duke To The Rescue

In the span of five minutes, A's fans experienced every chauffeur's nightmare and every princess' dream--looking for a Street and not being able to find it, and then being saved by a Duke.

What did it take for the A's to squeak out a one-run win? It took four double-plays, two assists from Kotsay, six outs from Rincon, and a first major league save Justin time. Maybe this reflects how much the A's are scraping right now, or maybe it reflects how hot the Phillies are right now.

Some "didja knows" to chew on:

  • Before today, Kirk Saarloos had gone no fewer than 5 innings and no more than 6 innings in his previous 8 starts. Today, with Street out due to a strained muscle (hurt during pregame warmups), Saarloos got the A's 19 outs--with a little help from his friends.
  • In his last 8 innings, Rincon has now allowed 4 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB and 9 K.
  • If the A's win tomorrow, they will have won 5 of 6 series since Crosby's return. If.
