Open Thread: Game 29 - A's at New York Yankees

The A's and Barry Zito with a 1-4 record and a 5.84 ERA goes against Carl Pavano with a 2-2 record and a 4.24 ERA.

So, here we go. The A's embark on a tough, grueling 12-game trip. Don't let the Yankees fool you, this team is lying and waiting to awaken. Their lineup is still one of the best in all of baseball. And their pitching, though inconsistent, is capable of putting up Cy Young-type performances every night.

The A's were utterly spanked by the Rangers on Wednesday and look to prove their still are among the AL contenders.

Our Athletics go with this lineup:

Kotsay
Kendall
Chavez
Hatteberg
Kielty
Durazo
Ginter
Byrnes
Scutaro

The Yankees counter with this lineup:

Jeter
Womack
Sheffield
Matsui
Rodriguez
Williams
Phillips
Flaherty
Cano

Something interesting to watch. Everyone remembers the home run Posada hit off Zito in the 2001 playoffs. Flaherty, on the other hand, has three career hits off Z. All of them went for home runs.

LET'S GO A'S!!!
