Kot-Say Hey HEY!!!!

Finally it's over. Apparently eight WAS enough.

I was going to write a post tonight examining the A's injuries and the loss of Rick Peterson affecting the pitchers. But I'll save that for another day.

Tonight I just want to talk about the superior performance of the A's bullpen. 6 1/3 innings, 3 hits, two walks and six strikeouts. I want to talk about Eric Chavez getting a clutch hit off a lefty for an RBI. I want to talk about Mark Kotsay making a brilliant catch that left an imprint on the left centerfield wall AND getting the game winning hit to right center.

And finally, I want to welcome back Bobby Crosby, who didn't do much other than hit a double in five at-bats. But what I like more about it is that the ROY ran out to meet Kotsay quicker than any other player and was clearly pumped. Could Crosby have an energy effect on the club? Not only that, I think he makes Ken Macha's choices much easier and more clear cut. Because he now essentially has two players for second base and doesn't really have to worry about shortstop or pinch hitting for the kid. He can suddenly look a lot smarter by making use of Adam Melhuse for a key at-bat in the ninth inning.

For one night at least, all is good in AN. Enjoy the victory. It hasn't happened often this month. WOOOO HOOOO!!! (yes, we're celebrating like winning the WS after beating the Devil Rays)
