The A's and Danny Haren with a 1-5 record and a 5.21 ERA go against Randy Johnson with a 3-2 record and a 3.68 ERA.
Down they fall, where they'll stop, nobody knows. The A's are still sinking deeper in their hole and facing The Big Unit doesn't help. The A's did make some lineup changes for the game, including sitting Eric Chavez on the bench because even though Unit is getting on in years, he can still be filthy.
Here is the A's lineup:
Kotsay
Byrnes
Kendall
Kielty
Ginter
Durazo
Ellis
Hatteberg
Scutaro
You can understand why Watson would be on the bench with the Unit on the mound. Second day called up facing him? Yikes.
The Yankees counter with this group:
Jeter
Womack
Sheffield
Matsui
Rodriguez
Martinez
Posada
Giambi
Cano
Haren's last two outings have only lasted 3 2/3's innings, giving up 13 runs in that time span. Granted, five were unearned, but it doesn't bode well against the Yankees suddenly red-hot lineup.
Haren needs to get his groove back.
LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!
