Open Thread: Game 36 - A's vs. New York

The A's and Smokin' Joe Blanton with an 0-3 record and a 3.22 ERA go against Kevin "Wall-Beater" Brown with a 1-4 record and a 6.39 ERA.

The A's desperately need to win one as the slide continues. But as ChavyGoldX4 and I discussed in one of the threads, I honestly believe that Chavez is still in the three-hole because it's intended as experience to help him learn to work through slumps like this. He's the most dangerous hitter on this team and if Billy is truly building toward 2006 and beyond, Chavy needs to learn to work through vicious slumps like this. Even if it costs us a few games here in 2005.

Any way, Matt Watson not only got the call-up, but he's in the starting lineup tonight. Congrats to the kid, he's starting in left field, hitting eighth:

Kotsay
Kendall
Chavez
Durazo
Kielty
Hatteberg
Ginter
Watson
Scutaro

The Yankees counter with this lineup:

Jeter
Womack
Sheffield
Matsui
Rodriguez
Martinez
Posada
Giambi
Cano

Oh, and I'm opening an extra thread or two because we're going to a party in a little while. TiVo is my friend.

LET'S GO OAK-LAND!!! LET'S GO WAT-SON!!!
