The A's are officially moving their Single-A team from Modesto to Stockton, California starting in 2005.
This has been rumored for a while, so it doesn't come as any great shock.
It's kind of sad to think of it happening for Modesto, considering they got to see a great number of stars come through their city.
The Athletics will bring a familiar and popular brand name to Stockton, along with a remarkable history of having future major-league all-stars come up through their farm system. The noteworthy names that played in Modesto on their way to Oakland in the past 20 years include Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Jason Giambi, Miguel Tejada, Tim Hudson and Bobby Crosby.
At the same time, for someone like myself who resides in Sacramento, this means I can easily travel to see some of the A's really young prospects in person.
