$1.01 Tickets for 8/29 game
I just got an email from the A's office, so I thought I would post it here. It'll eventually get up somewhere though.
Brad Ziegler has smashed the record for career-starting
scoreless innings set 101 years ago. The record of 25 was
previously set by George McQuillan in 1907. Zeigler's
streak began on May 30, 2008 when he made his Major League
debut. He broke McQuillan's record on Sunday, July 27, but
kept going, racking up 39 scoreless innings to complete
his three-month streak.
Ziegler and the A's invite you to McAfee Coliseum on
August 29 to celebrate the new record with a pre-game
ceremony before the A's host the Twins. In honor of
the 101 years that the previous record stood,
Plaza Outfield and Plaza Reserved tickets to the game
will available for just $1.01 starting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

The link wasn't working when I tried it. The coupon code is ZIGGY. I think $1.01 might be too much for this team sometimes, but ZIGGY deserves it.

Cito Gaston is back
In a shocking, SHOCKING, development, John Gibbons has been fired by the Blue Jays. They are bringing back Cito Gaston, and Gene Tenace is being promoted to hitting coach. The Blue Jays are a joke, but for some reason I'm interested in their moves. J.P. taking shots at Adam Dunn, a last place team, and a successful manager that hasn't had a job since 1997. It's like really really lame theatre.

Shannon Stewart makes Blue Jays squad
Looks as thought Shannon Stewart will make the opening day roster for the Blue Jays as they have decided to cut Reed Johnson. Now, if I'm not mistaken, does that mean that the A's now pick up an extra draft pick? Now we'll see if I figured out how to add the link properly.

Traveling to STL for first game
Hey! A friend and I will be making our first trip to the new Busch stadium for the DH against the Brewers. We're driving from KC on Saturday morning, fairly early, and we are staying for both games. So, I had some questions, and I would really appreciate any help in order to help us get around downtown STL as smoothly as possible.
- Parking: I'm looking for a spot to maybe do some tailgating, grilling, whatever. Is there a good spot to do that? For that matter, is it even allowed? I'm used to going to games at the K, and I'm sure most of you know how open that area is around the park. Also, how much will parking cost?
- Around the stadium: There will be some time to kill between games, so we are looking for a place to eat, as well as drink a few adult beverages. Which bars down there would be best for some mid-20s guy looking to rock out in STL? The cheapest beer bar hole-in-the-wall would be great, too. We're just looking to have fun on our trip.
- In the stadium: Best stadium food? Best stadium beers? I'm assuming there is mostly A-B, but if there are any local microbrews to check out, which would you recommend?

Midwest AN Day 5/10/07 - The Video Diary
It seemed a video "diary" might be a cool way to let some of the AN members out there see what it's like to be at "The K" for a baseball game. This video is short but sweet, as it was a fantastic 17-3 A's beatdown of the Royals. I know that Nebraska was taking pictures, and smith1051 might also have some to add to this thread. And Jennifer, even though she doesn't like us, might have some to add, too. All in all, it was another good series win for your Oakland A's. Sadly, they don't make it back to K.C. this year, but a group of us are making the journey out to Oakland for the official AN Day against the Angels. Hope you guys enjoy the video. All credit on the video goes to ICTShockers, not me.

RiverCat Nick Blasi radio interview
This morning, Nick Blasi of your Sacramento RiverCats was on a show called Sports Daily here in Wichita, KS. Nick went to high school here and played college ball for Wichita State. This show is horrible, but they have this episode available to download. They used to break the show up in segments, which would have made this a lot easier, but now the entire show is lumped together. I've included the link to the download. If you pause it and let the whole thing load, you can just click in the middle, which is about where the show is. Just thought I would pass it along in case anyone was interested.

A's vs. GIANTS to open 2007 season
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/schedule/index.jsp#20070401
I don't know how to do HTML, so here is the link. I'm guessing that MLB is praying for a Zito vs. A's game right off the bat. But, I can't remember Oakland playing in the first game of the year, can you? Sorry this is short, I just couldn't beleive what I saw.

Open Thread - Boston vs. LAAAAAA
Greetings. The lineups are as follows.
Boston:
Crisp
Pedroia
Ortiz
Youkilis
Hinske
Lowell
Pena
Cora
Mirabelli
A terrifying lineup for sure. ManRam is out for the game because of his anger at the Fenway official scorer...ERRR...his bum knee
LAAAAAAA:
Figgins
Izturis
Cabrera
Vlad
Anderson
Rivera
Kendrick
Kennedy
Napoli
Pitching: Beckett (13-8, 5.35 ERA) vs. Weaver (9-0, 1.95 ERA)
How Beckett has the same record as Zito is flat out stupid, but that's baseball. Weaver goes for his 10th win, which would be a rookie record for most wins to start a career. GO RED SOX!!!!

A's vs. Royals - Midwest AN Weekend 2.5
Hey everyone. Midwest AN Weekend is now 1 week away, as out beloved A's take on the formerly desparate Royals, who just swept the Red Sox. It appeared to me that there are several people who plan on coming to tailgate, hang out, and enjoy the company of other ANers, so I thought I would post some information for people that have never been to the K, or who might have forgotten the area.
First: Tickets The A's dugout is on the third base side, and there is a good group of A's fans on that side.
Second: Directions and Parking The stadium is easy to get to. We will meet in Lot A around 12:30 pm on Friday, 2 on Saturday, and 11 or so on Sunday.
Third: Kauffman Tours Not sure why anybody would want a tour, but just in case.
Fourth: Guide to Kauffman Rules and Regulations. You can get a certificate if this is your first visit to the K.
Fifth: Previous Diary In case you missed the memo on tailgating.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Otherwise, let's try and outparty those ANaheimers!!

Huston Street on Jim Rome
Huston Street is scheduled to appear on Jim Rome in the third hour today. I can't wait to hear him. I will try to post a recap on what he says. I am pretty stoked about the game tonight, as I think we will do some swinging. I don't know if anyone else listens to him, but that is the only sports radio I can pick up where I work. Either way, should be a good interview after they had washburn (who cares) on yesterday. Talk to you later.
