new alternate unis for 2008
i was reading the most current issue of Athletics Magazine (the one with Blanton on the cover) and somewhere it was mentioned that the a's will have new alternate uniforms for 2008. i think it was in the article on how the the a's clubhouse works and the steve vucinich was showing swish and chavy what it would look like. did anyone else here about this, or i am the only one?

I also read it in Athletics Magazine...
I'll have to see the uniform before I give my opinion because I actually like the alternate jerseys they have now.
AN was also mentioned as one of the best A's websites. We're famous!

If the A's leave the training staff in place
the alternate uniforms will look like this:

Plane leaving oakland
I voted for the only Kennedy on a plane leaving Oakland but I'm regretting that. I think there should be room for a few others as well - Kotsay for one.

You need to have your A's fandom card revoked.

unis.
I absolutely HATED the black jerseys..... what did they last, a whole year?
One thing I like about the A's unis, is the they havent really undergone any significant change for a long time. These are the same jerseys we had from our days of dominance in the late 80s, early 90s. Except for the addition of the road hat and the green alternate uni, I like the jerseys the way they are.
by spartan21 on Aug 3, 2007 12:14 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I like technicolor gingerbread
and an alternate uni for every occasion...
I'd actually prefer each team to have a set of approved gear, like maybe 7 or 8 different jerseys and a few different pairs of pants, and then players can pick out ensembles they like. Players wouldn't have to wear the same exact uniform as each other, but everyone's uniform would obviously represent the team they play for.

I know I'm in the minority on this..
...but I really like the elephant logo.
And by that, I mean both the original elephant logo (the one where it's standing on a ball) and the new one (where the elephant is clutching a pair of bats).
I diggum.
by Ozzz on Aug 3, 2007 12:43 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
The elephant logo
is awesome.
If we're doing away with the elephant logo, it's just another sign that this franchise is incapable of building a sense of tradition and billing itself as historically important.
The change at all is dumb, since I can't find any fault with the current green with gold lettering we've got going on.
by walk off bunt on Aug 3, 2007 1:47 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Also
Are those in favor of the elephant really in the minority?
That's a bloody shame if so.

If elephant is wrong,
I don't wanna be right!

I like the elephant too
but I voted with the JoKe just because that was the funny.

Bring back the 1982 jersey's
Not the one's that say OAKLAND across but the one's that just has "A's" on it. Those are my fav!
by What Would Rickey Do on Aug 3, 2007 5:56 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I loved those...
They came right at the height of the polyester era, which the A's helped start in the early 70's.
That 82 uni (I think it was an alternate uni from 81-84) was a classy exposed button up with the introduction of the darker green in the form of the "A's" logo on the left breast.
One of my favorite A's uni's of all time.
by nodaclu on Aug 3, 2007 3:52 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agreed!

anymore. naked.
by oakath on Aug 3, 2007 9:08 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
After this season
any new uniforms should read "Chico's Bail Bonds" on the back!!!
by Vacafan on Aug 3, 2007 10:04 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Is it the Road Grey Uni's they are replacing?
I think they will need to replace the greys because they say "Oakland" on them. They need to start moving away from the Oakland reference.
by roscoe on Aug 3, 2007 10:33 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
aren't the green ones their alternates though?
Its the alternate jersey that's going to be new. Do any teams have more than 1 alternate?
by alamedagirl on Aug 3, 2007 11:36 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I like the green ones, they're my favourite.
Hope they don't get replaced.
by OldhamA on Aug 6, 2007 1:16 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I hope they get altered
to say "A's" instead of "Athletics," like the 70's ones.
And they should wear matching green shoes. Save the white shoes for the home white traditional unis only.
Green shoes on the road and for alternate unis.
And favorite doesn't have a "u" in it unless you're posting to a cricket blog.

The Braves
It looks like they have about 12 different uni's.
by Shippee33 on Aug 3, 2007 5:16 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
They only have three
Home white with "Braves", Road grey with "Atlanta", and red alternates (that they wear on Sundays) with "Braves."
by FormerHuntsvilleStar on Aug 3, 2007 6:20 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I thought they also had

New unis
As long as they make the new uni's a little less see-through, my s.o. will be happy. He's not too thrilled with my knowledge of exactly who is a tighty-whitey guy and who wears briefs. (None of the boys were going commando at the last game I was at. *sigh*)
