ANtics Episode 3.20: Opposite Day
I never truly saw this coming - the resurgence in offense from Bobby Crosby and Jason Kendall, the quick return to health of Mike Piazza and Rich Harden, and Mike Piazza's race to the Hall of Fame. What an incredible run this team has been on! Have you purchased your postseason tickets yet?

One of my favorites!
...and, wishing this were reality rather than fantasy.
Since it's opposite day
I voted for Chavvy's 12-RBI series. That's not quite as improbable as the others.
What's the record since DFA of Milton?
5-12? i think that has hurt the team morale and there will be no 2nd half run this year.

The Curse of the Brad-bino
Man, it's the curse of Milton! Seriously. Seems like team diversity is proving more important that Mr. Beane would like to think.

considering Milton would only have played
5 of those games since he was on the DL with SD again. I'd say the comments about Milton's affect on the team are..................completely bogus and full of shit.
Get over it people, it didn't affect this team one bit.

re: considering Milton would only have played
yea but it's about team moral. i've never seen swisher so sad before and the dugout doesn't look a thing like it did last year. our team is one that hangs out with each other after the games. and sure it happens where people get traded but to get dfa'ed out of no where sucks. i'm sure all the other players expected bradly back by second half and to take that away appears to have taken the wind out of the team.

We may be bad
They did run the A's out of Philadelphia.
Last place finishes:
Athletics - 29 in 106 years
Phillies - 30 in 124 years

Piazza gone after bobble head day?
Just wondering if Piazza will be traded after his bobble head day. You know how cheap the A's are sometimes and maybe they are waiting for the bobblehead day to be over give them out and trade him the next day.
I Just bought my playoff tickets no refunds tho
do you think I was ripped off?

other surprises..
- Chavez hits a multi-run homerun
- A's hitters does not hit into a double play (and not just because there was nobody on the bases)
- Kotsay takes the first pitch and still has a hit at the same at-bat

re: other surprises..
- i'd just like to see chavy hit more homeruns with people on base.
- it'd be nice if we had some speed on our team to avoid the double plays by stealing a base or getting a good enough jump on a ground ball to slide to stop the double play.
and just to add my own:
- have a lineup that doesn't change every game. Seriously now it's late in the season and geren should know who needs to be where in the lineup. consistency will give players confidence and it shouldn't be who ever gets a couple hits the game before moves up a couple spots.
- get rid of colby lewis. seems like he's the guy they put in when geren throws in the towel. as soon as he hits the mound i change channels now. geren might as well bring in Stomper the elephant to pitch - anyone can do better than colby.
- why not put marco at second and ellis at ss. crosby is an instant momentum killer. just find some way to get crosby out of there and keep marco from playing 3rd.
