AN Sports4Kids Charity Effort So Close
AN, I plead to you one more time, we're so close to getting enough money for the Sports4Kids charity effort. We're so close to our stated goal of $3,500. We now have $2,850 and the final deadline to contribute is Wednesday at noon PST. If we don't make it, that's fine we can just purchase whatever in season tickets of the amount we have will allow. But I'd love to be able to at least provide the same amount of tickets that we got last season.
If you're waiting until the last second, you can be the one who pushes us over the top. We need $650. Send it to blez - at - athleticsnation - dot -com through PayPal.
Thanks, AN! We can do this!

I'm in
Been traveling and not checking in much, so I'm glad you posted this reminder. Let's hope we get the full $650.

I'll post a diary at The Daily Kos tonight
It's Monday. I've never asked for anything there and Lord knows I have paid some dues. We'll see whay happens.
Thanks for the diary. Hope the little one is well.

Not to sound repetitive or anything...
...but why is this not an SBNation-wide event?
Couldn't we/shouldn't we be doing this in every city there's an SBN blog (or more than one)?
All it would take is an email to the SBN bloggers, and the payoff for the kids in other cities could be enormous.
Anyone?

We ought to do a challenge next year
Start it on March 1st, run it for two weeks, see which blog can raise the most money.

I'll tell everyone
Some of the blogs are definitely big enough now that they can raise the money. The problem is that with some teams like the Cubs, you aren't going to get a charity discount because they could sell that tickets for mucho dinero.

I'd think even without a discount..
Alternately, you could always do a 'send us your unwanted spare tickets' drive.
I know I usually end up with a couple of extra tix at the end of the season for our local team, and would have no problem sending a couple to a good cause.

on the other hand...
I don't know that exposing children to the Wrigley bleachers is a good thing anyways.

I think we're probably pretty close. Blez, can we get an update for the final 20 hour push?

Now, we should set up a fund that keeps kids
from seeing the Giants. What lousy role-models...

Is this donation tax deductible?
If so, what do we use as a receipt for our tax returns? thanks.
by oaklandbbfan on Mar 13, 2007 4:40 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
yes and no
Yes it is. If the IRS asks to you to prove you did it, can you?
Paypal comes out of my bank account, so I would have a record there. There is no receipt from Blez.
by paradox on Mar 13, 2007 6:52 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Unfortunately no
I'm not set up to give you receipts for it. So sorry!
