Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

Open World Series Thread: Game 2 - Rockies at Red Sox

Wow, if that's the way this series is going to go it could be the lowest rated World Series since television was invented.  I think I might be tuning out if the Red Sox kill the Rox again tonight.

Ubaldo Jimenez takes on Curt "Big Mouth" Schilling.

The starting lineups are as follows:

Rockies

Taveras
Matsui
Holliday
Helton
Atkins
Hawpe
Tulowitzki
Torrealba
Spilborghs

Red Sox

Pedroia
Youkilis
Ortiz
Ramirez
Lowell
Drew
Varitek
Ellsbury
Lugo

Can the Rockies at least make it interesting?  It will be a shame if one of the greatest runs in baseball history went up in smoke due to a long layoff...

The obviousness is starting early

That's surprising!

I wonder if a team is more likely to score multiple runs if they've already scored one.  It's counterintuitive, I know...

I don't think this will be a quick series

Rockies just need to win 1 in Bo town. They will sweep at home.

Statistically, if they sweep at home

they have a better chance of winning the series than if they get swept at home. Counterintuitive, I know, but true.

Funny thing is, I can still see Cal getting to the Rose Bowl, if Oregon and Cal both win out.  That probably puts Oregon in the championship game and opens up an at-large spot in the Rose Bowl.  Wins over Tennessee, Oregon, Arizona State and USC, and a 10-2 record, would be most impressive...I bet Cal would be a top choice for the Rose Bowl in that scenario.

(Yeah, I was in Pasadena on Saturday, I don't think our defense is good enough to accomplish all that.)

Kind of funny that Directv is being promoted

seeing that HD locals are not offered in my area.  I had a tech over this afternoon and told him he couldn't leave until Fox was in HD.

Now Is The Time

Herges and Fuentes did their job.  This game is win-able.

Go Rox!!!

I agree with you after that gaffe.

HA HA!

Dance to that, sucker!

Sure. ...

when it's a team that we're mostly rooting for because we're rooting against the other one.

It's a better game to watch

but it hurts more to lose when it is close.

Yep

I'm afraid the Rockies have turned into the Blue Jays, or the Royals.  Going back to Denver isn't going to help much.

by Soaker on Oct 25, 2007 8:51 PM PDT up reply actions

8 days off + facing a team that came back

from 3-1 down to win + the pressure of the situation + a less talented ball club (thanks to the salary difference) = World Series Sweep.

oh for god's sake Holliday!!

way to take the bat out of Helton's hand

Yeah. He did heroine with Basquiat.

Actually

It looks kind of river-dancey...ugh

What's wrong with us, anyway?  Why are we disgusted by a young lad expressing his joy in a genuine moment of whimsy?

by Brian in 317 on Oct 25, 2007 8:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Because he doesn't play for the A's.

pretty please

I'll say anything to appeal to the baseball gods.  Please don't let the RedSox win.

Message to Rox:

If you're not gonna win this, I would have really rather started watching Grey's Anatomy at 9:00.

I'm not.

Plus, it would make me happier than this game.

wanted Helton to be a hero.

I hate the Red Sox.

I know hate is a strong word... but BLEGHHHHHHH

To add to that

I hope the Rockies score a thousand runs right now so everyone in the stadium who is not in a Rockies uniform or cheering for the Rockies in some way sits down and starts crying.

I'm leaving the sound on mute.

Can stand to hear the joyous sounds of Fenway.

Puke.

All right, I guess we hope for the altitude effect.

Say, I know the universe of people who got tickets to a World Series game and were sitting close enough for the cameras to capture them is highly unrepresentative, but that was the whitest crowd I've ever seen -- and I'm from Minnesota, remember.

We were caught in a hamster wheel of recriminations and resentment.

So...

I'm feelin' really good about that comeback win thing that we were talking about yesterday. I hope the Rockies can win all three games at home, but I guess I'll settle with 2 out of 3 if it means getting their game back to where they can beat them in Boston. UGH the Red Sox (andfans) make me sick with their arrogance.

The Rox

are not going to win 4 of the next 5. They really needed to take 1 game before heading to Colorado.

I can't watch Saturday's game, so I think I'm gonna try to uninvest emotionally.
