AN day in Anaheim - post details here.

Update!

Where - Katella entrance (north side of stadium).

When - 5:30 PM Saturday.

Update Part II - Rickeyfan has officially arrived as of 15 minutes ago. Scutaro spotted in hotel lobby. See ya'lls tomorrow. Alrighty, I just got the instruction sheets for the card stunts finalized (I have to hit up the local Kinko's to get 70 copies printed up - between the paper, copy fees, and my time, that'll be my contribution :) ).  I am driving down today (late afternoon) from the Bay Area to the  Anaheim/OC Doubletree just south of the stadium.  I should be in some time tonight between 10 and 12. In case some sort of calamity befalls me between now and then, I will email a copy of the file to Poppy and BBG (It's all formatted for easy printing)

Poppy (with the cards) is at the Anaheim Hilton several blocks west of the stadium.

Among the things to coordinate
-The picking up of the cards from Poppy (where and when) This has been settled.
-The pre-game meeting of AN at Angel stadium north(Katella) entrance has been chosen.  All we need to do is setup a time (This has been settled - 5:30).  Are people going early enough to watch BP?  Should we rehearse in the stadium or in the parking lot?

As more details come in, I'll update this diary in the next couple hours.  Otherwise, I'll be off the grid (ok, not really, BBG and Poppy can reach me by cell)

If possible, we need AN volunteers that are sitting elsewhere at the stadium to take pictures of the stunts. We'd greatly appreciate it. :)

FYI
'There are three entrances into the Angel Stadium of Anaheim parking lot, via Douglass Road, State College Boulevard, and Orangewood Avenue. The parking lot opens two and a half hours prior to the start of the scheduled first pitch. Please follow the directions of the parking staff upon entering the lot. Day of game parking is $8.00 and oversized vehicles (greater than 20 feet in length) are $16.00.'

Okay. I have a car.
I'm going to grab LongtimeFan, and possibly Jlaff to come with me to the Hilton, pick up the cards, and possibly the Poppys and drive them to the stadium. We park in one of the outside lots, but I suppose we could park in the stadium just this once.

What do we all think about meeting in a lot (either by the two helmets or over by left field) to get the cards, do introductions, etc...or would we rather just go into the stadium and meet everyone there?

No, don't come to the hotel...
I need to take easyraider up on his ride offer... see my comment below.

Well.
I'm completely confused now as to the proximity of the Hilton to the ballpark, which may not be walking distance, and I really don't have any time today to figure out how people would meet me there... other than easyraider, who I've already been talking to.

So here's what the cards are going to do:  The cards (and me & Mr. Poppy) will accept easyraider's generous offer of a ride to the parking lot that's off Katella.  easyraider describes the lot in the earlier thread.

Please don't try to find us at the hotel.  I** might not even find the hotel, but easyraider & I will have the "transport of cards" issue covered.  BBG, Rickeyfan & I all also have each other's cellphone numbers.

Find your way to easyraider's favorite parking lot off Katella by 5:30, we'll try to be as obvious as possible.  Email me today if you're concerned you won't be able to find us, and I'll give you my cellphone number (if you don't already have bbg's or Rickeyfan's).

Okay...
Let's meet at the stadium.

Poppy, let us know if you want ME to pick up the cards and easyraider can pick up you and the Mr.

That's fine, too.
I'll call both of you.  I can't spend any more time on this for the next several hours.

Feel free to share my cell number
The Katella entrance (Douglas) just seems easy because not a lot of people park there so we should be able to locate each other easier.

Again, if we go this route, you would enter from the Katella side on Douglas.  Stay to the right.  After paying, make the first right.  Then park in the parking area on the right.  Added benefit is that you can exit in seconds as this is right by the exit.

Just a suggestion though.  I would be happy to meet anywhere.

I'll be there.
Anyone who needs my cell, just email, but it should have been in the letter.

Thanks!
I'd be happy to meet anywhere (besides the hotel), too... your Katella lot just happened to be the only concrete suggestion so far.  I really appreciate your help  :)

Look for hip, cool minvan
OK, well, at least it is Oakland A's green

by easyraider on Sep 29, 2006 3:42 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

and while you're looking...
keep an eye out for a streak of silver car.  Particularly Poppy and anyone else driving down from the bay area tomorrow.  And since I'll likely be leaving at some point around the time you'll be on the road it's very possible I'll be passing you, especially since I'm staying at the hilton as well.

Yes, I am DMOAS, and I'm a rager.

Well...
...just don't run up the ass of a green Accord, and we'll be fine.  :P

don't worry
I treat anything in green or gold as royalty.  That and anything/one that contains a particular logo from a particular team I kind'a sort of like... a lot.

If that flash of silver does pass you and you see the guy inside it singing at the top of his lungs (very poorly) that'll likely be me.  And if I see a bunch of folks trying to move cards around so as to transport them, I'll be sure to offer a hand (clapping and a quick "Let's go Poppy & BBG!" chant is the least I can do).

this is all going to work out as planned.

I think you, Jennifer, Sal, and Sharon
should all be taken from your homes and deposited in the Coliseum against your will if the A's make the World Series.  It's a good thing habeus corpus is gone now--I'm sure we can figure out some non-reason to detain and hold you all against your will.

A little help
Does anybody know of somebody coming from Irvine or south thereof?  I am trying desperately to find a way to the game as this would be my first AN day anywhere.  Thanks.

I am going to be out of the area tomorrow.
Someone please take pics and post if the commentators mention or show the stunts on tv! Good luck to all participating. Hope you bring the team some luck.

Can anyone drive someone back to LA after the game? (specifically Hollywood)?

What inning will the card tricks be in?
Just in case I take a nap during the game, want to make sure that I wake up in time...  :)

Still yet to be finalized
BBG and I spoke, we may try to do a dry run between innings early on so that we can do smoother displays during the game later.  So the answer is ... we're not sure yet :P

Is someone taping tonights game?
Just so that if they show us we can have a clip!

I don't know how the card thing went,
but I wanted to say THANK YOU to all the ANers that came and hung out under the Big A in the parking lot today and shared some hospitality with myself and the rest of the Angels Booster Club.  It was great meeting you guys(especially BBG, as I read her comments all the time), and I hope you had as much fun at the party as I did.

I also hope the card thing went well.  I missed it.

I have one request, though--For those of you that are hanging at the Doubletree in Orange (by the mall) can you talk to your pitchers tonight and have ONE of them throw a fat pitch to Salmon so he can hit #300 tomorrow??  You guys are going to the playoffs-- you can spare a HR for Timmy, can't you???  :)
