ANtics Episode 2.19: Eric Byrnes' Curse Continues

When the A's traded Eric Byrnes to the Rockies last year, feelings on AN were mixed. Popular for his hustle and "grit", yet unpopular for his unconventional route to fly balls and propensity to pop up, Byrnes meant something to everyone. But, apparently the A's meant a lot more to Byrnes, a local Bay Area product. Returning to the Coliseum as a member of the Orioles in August, the Birds swept the A's in three games, which the ANtics first chronicled in "ANtics - Episode V: The Byrnes Curse".

A year later, Byrnes, now with the Diamondbacks, proved the guy can carry a serious grudge. Though not the focal point for any of the Diamondbacks' three wins, his curse lives on, and the A's again are on the losing end of a three-game sweep. The ANtics check in on the curse to see if anything can be done...

PS
I voted for Other cause I wanted to vote for A,B, and C. But not D.

Oh, and I really do love ANtics, I always do. This one just makes me sad!

It's come to this.
the great playoff miss of 2004 followed by the good try of 2005...in 2006?...prove it.

To what?
To you saying, "It's come to this"?

how bad did you expect it would be?

If i can be serious...
This...meant coming a point like this in the season with the team in such a funk, and ANtics (which reflects the humor of any situation the team is in) and it ain't exactly grand as we all know.

Looking forward to this Detroit series...I am sure the team is too...best record in mlb and all that...great opportunity to apply all kinds of cliches...that translate into we need to take this series.

If we can be swept by
a team going as badly as Arizona was, we can sweep a team going a well as Detroit is. That's the great thing about baseball--it makes fools out of prognosticators every day, and leaves you wondering just what tomorrow will really bring.

And even better...
There's no curse! Not even Jeremy Bonderman hates the A's the way that Byrnes does!

But I hear
Omar Infante has quite a chip on his shoulder.

I Lolz'd
But I doubt with Byrnes in the Diamondbacks lineup, I don't suspect him to win multiple World Series while the A's don't win another one for 86 years...
