ANtics Episode 2.15: A's Big Man On Campus

Last year, the A's didn't see much production out of their DH position, and in the offseason, a big acquisition was made to bring offense to the one position where you can completely stink at defense, and nobody cares. A very big acquisition that goes by the moniker, "The Big Hurt". Two months into the 2006 campaign, Frank Thomas ranks second on the team in home runs, with 13, is third in RBIs (30), and is second in walks (29). The ANtics looks in on his progress, in "A's Big Man On Campus".

Those last two panels
are hilarious. Not that the others aren't. Oh, you know what I mean.

6'7 man nicknamed "Big Hurt" won't look good knocking on your door. Ask the ump in last panel.

Have we got any confirmation...
On the extent and time, if any, Frank will miss from the foot? I may kill someone if he's not in the lineup when I go Friday to YS.

Just found this...
Frank Thomas was taken out with soreness in his left foot after he scored the first run of the ballgame in the second inning. He jogged around the bases very gingerly after his double and scored on an RBI single from Bobby Crosby.

But after the game, Thomas was walking fine and trainer Larry Davis said that it was very smart of Thomas to take himself out.

Well, that was my favorite line.
But I liked the rest too!

Awesome.
One of my favorites (ANtics comics and ballplayers).
