Any Update on Roy Steele?
You know, just being in the sun at an A's game is such a great way to appreciate our own "Voice of God", Roy Steele. But to really hammer that home, try going to the Ma Bell Memorial Corporate Amusement Park and listen to the Giants' counterpart. Simply staggering.
But I'm not hear to bash Renel. I am here to ask if anyone has any update on Roy Steele's health. Dick Callahan is doing a great job keeping Roy's seat warm, but I wish Roy a speedy recovery and hope he'll be back soon.
Sorry if this has been covered before and I missed it. I did a diary/comment search and didn't find any mention...

it was announced that he'd miss
He also missed time late last season due to an undisclosed throat ailment.
I hate to say this, but I suspect it's something serious.
Yeah, I noticed that too

It was also a problem during ST--
Definitely seems serious. :-/
Given how sketchy the announcement was, I wonder if the A's are the same about reporting on Steele's health as the players'.

undisclosed throat ailment
As I was awaiting boarding of my flight back to Oakland after watching a few spring training games I was in line right next to a doctor who was relaying some kind of diagnosis of a throat cancer patient. I was having cold sweats while he was taking about surgery on the larnyx.
Problem with voice injuries is that you can't replace the voice box. There's no such thing as a "Tommy John surgery" for the voice.

The quote I saw
I can't believe he's got the second-longest tenure as an MLB PA announcer. He's so amazing, I hope another update is released soon from the club.
