ANtics Episode 2.5: Scutaro Skills

The A's roster seems to be fairly solidified, with more cuts being made today. But with Mark Ellis healthy and coming off a strong 2005 season, and the acquisition of Antonio Perez, what does this mean for fan favorite Marco Scutaro, especially in light of Freddy Bynum's status? Some are seeing Scutaro, or Ginter, or Bynum, as being the last options to reduce roster spots in what's become a crowded infield. Today, we look closer at Marco Scutaro, in "Scutaro Skills!"

Poll Choice #6
Mihouse & Scoot start a 12 step program...

"Hi! My name is Scoot, and I play for Oakland."

"Hi, Scoot"

"While I could be a starter on many clubs, I have warmed the bench for 2 weeks now..."

<Melhuse gives Scoot a big hug>

"I love you man"

scoot and milhouse starting?
that would be one crappy baseball team...

Thats pretty harsh....
Just because Milhouse is .077 against left handed pitching?  At least Adam has actually seen one of his balls clear an outfield wall since Millard Fillmore was President.

do they give some sort of
special award for that?  because if they do i'm unaware of it.

i'm not a big kendall defender given his huge contract, but kendall could take a turd with a higher OBP than either melhuse or scutaro.

if salary isn't an issue (since we're paying both), i'll take a catcher who has the history of success at the major league level that kendall has.  who cares if instead of 2 hr every 100 at bats, he hits 0 hr every 100 at bats.  they did have the same ops last year, but obp is more important than slg.  and of course kendall is two years younger.

i'd love to see melhuse and scutaro as regular mlb starters...for the angels.

I almost agree
Sure, give me Kendall April - August.  But many times, I have seen both Scoot and Milhouse be really clutch. While they don't put up huge numbers all year long, they both tend to rise to the occasion.  Sure Kendall has been a solid performer, and he calls s good game.  But I think both  Scoot & Milhouse deserve props for not only what they have contributed, but when.

Scoot Boot
I certainly hope that Scoot gets the chance to give the boot to the Yankees next week.

Excellent job as always!

Scutaro over Bynum pls.

Seriously!
I've seen too many "red hot!" players in Spring Training fizzle out when it comes to the regular season.  Give me Scooter any day.

Another Good ANtic
Thanks, louismg.  But really, your dislike of Scooter is just too transparent!!!

I hope he sticks around us, but can't see 162 games with us.  So I can't participate in the poll.

Here's a poll: louismg continues doing ANtics.

Scoot has proved his value
on the bench and in the clutch. I'd choose him over Bynum and Perez in a heartbeat.

the last box is the funniest ;-)

It is Swish...
I goofed up, and the original photographer caught it. As I wrote her earlier today...

"What a goof-up! Swisher it is! What was I thinking??? How did I screw up Swisher vs. Scoot? Arrrggghhh!!!! :-)"

So... ummm... yeah. It's Swish. Obviously.
