What would Z get in arbitration, if by pure Christmas miracle... he did accept?

It would depend on the submissions.

The arbitrator has to choose one of two salaries, the one submitted by the team and the one one submitted by the player.

Boras could easily put down 18 MM and make a credible case based on durability, risk over one year, previous performance, etc. I'm not sure what Beane would submit as a reasonable one year deal, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where Zito would get less than 15 MM.
