Survey stats and stuff...

I've now put all the AN Member Location Surveys in one spot.

Click here to see them. This link will be in my signature.

[editor's note, by FormerHuntsvilleStar: We've hit the 400 mark in responses! Thanks! Also, Portland, OR has now surpassed New York City for the most ANers responded from a non-California city. Not bad for supposedly Mariners country! ;) ]

Star-divide

I made a page for each survey, plus a page with everyone's responses. So far through Wednesday, 370 responded to survey 1 (Where do you live now?) and 178 for survey 2 (Where are you from?).

So far, only 46 percent of those responding said they are from the Bay Area. Of course, this is a small sample size. :)

As always, if you see any corrections to be made, let me know. If you haven't answered the surveys yet and want to, please post below:

  1. where you live now
  2. where do you consider to be your original hometown
Thank you very much to all who participated! This has been very interesting and fun for me - I hope it has been for you too. And it seems a number of AN members have gotten to know a little bit more about each other too.

And as a gift for your participation, I'll refrain from singing "It's A Small World After All." :)

More than half core fans...
live outside the bay area?  No wonder attendance sucks.
Okay, let the bashing begin fot that comment...but it is true.

by easyraider on Jul 13, 2005 2:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Keep in mind...
...this is not scientific. Considerating the population of the Bay Area and how small a percentage 370 of that is, I would definitely not call this a true representative sample.

Besides, this only covers A's fans on AN who bothered to take this survey. I think only about 1/8 of all registered screen names have taken this survey.

In other words, this survey would not be admissible evidence to any relocation committee because, everybody say it with me...

SMALL...SAMPLE...SIZE... :)

A native Kiwi...
...cool. Every time I think of New Zealand now I think of U.S. Open champ Michael Campbell, who won the tournament about an hour away from Raleigh. Heard that was HUGE news down there.

From a baseball wasteland
Living in York (the original, in England), born in Scotland. Season ticket holder for 2004, section 206. Miss the Net badly, Thank God for broadband, KFRC and afternoon games. My bobblehead collection is now dated (Miggy's MVP, Zito's Cy Young, Mulder and Ramon).

Oh, and the current fashion in the UK is for Skankies baseball hats. Every joker under the sun has one, nothing to do with baseball, they're just supposed to be 'fashionable'. I despair.

It MUST be a fashion thing. Aren't the Dallas Cowboys also "popular" over there?

As long as there's folks on our side over there such as yourself, though, I am glad. :)

Married an O's fan (she took me to Camden Yards with her dad's tickets for our second date).  We have twin daughters and one has decided she's an A's fan so the other naturally declared herself an O's fan.  We have a third now who will eventually have to break the tie in the family (right now she's only 2).

And it sucks to have to go to Yankerstad and give them $30 to see the A's. This year, all but the bleachers for one game were sold out on all 6 games before New Years. Luckily, my thoughtful partner decided to give me a pair of tickets for Christmas. It's just not right to have to think about all the games you want to go to for the whole season about a month after the World Series.

Oh well. One game's not gonna do it, though. Looks like I'll be making a trip to Baltimore.
