AN Members: Where are you FROM?

Hiya, folks! First, I asked "Where do you live right now?" Now, I'm asking "Where are you from?"

By popular request, I have created another Athletics Nation member map -- this time, instead of where you live right now, the dots and flags represent WHERE YOU ARE FROM.

Star-divide

Specifically, the questions for AN folks in this survey is, "Where do you consider to be your original home town?" This could be where you were born or where you grew up.

I did get 48 answers to this question when they answered the previous survey, which asked "where do you live now." If you are on this list, please provide a correction if necessary...

Folks who didn't answer the first survey, the question is simply "Where do you live RIGHT NOW?" You can post your answer for that survey here. Please be sure to differentiate the answers (e.g., "I live in Oakland, my hometown is Enid, Oklahoma").

To see the current results of the "where do you live now" survey, CLICK HERE.

I'm not going to go into nearly as much detail with this one as I was with the first survey. Rather, this survey is an aside.

Thanks all for participating!

nebraska isn't very flat at all, actually. unless you're talking about the nebraska people see when driving on I-80. that is flat. but that's because it follows the platte river valley, which is of course very flat. nebraska is actually a fairly hilly state.

Anchorage, Alaska
Born near Los Angeles (in an area that's now the 'Hood), but left when I was a tiny tot and don't remember it at all.  Grew up in Anchorage, which I still think of as my home town, even though I don't particularly want to live there. Age 20 moved back south.  About 17 years mostly in (North) Oakland.  Now in Seattle, where I expect to stay for the long term, but I come back to visit frequently.

Come to think of it, when people here in Seattle ask me where I'm "from", I usually say Oakland, not Anchorage -- but my "original home town" is definitely Anchorage.

I love Oakland, but the California climate just doesn't suit me. Even when I lived there, it never felt right to me, and now every time I drive back it feels so hot and brown, even in winter.  I do like the north coast of California, though, from Mendocino on up. I'm definitely a creature of the Pacific Northwest.
