Open Thread/Worst Moneybutt match up

I like open threads. They can usually relate...somewhat...to A's and baseball, no matter how distantly. I thought a good 'start' topic for this thread --- what, in your opinion, would be the worst Moneybutt match up? And who would you vote for?

What about...
Bush vs. LAA?
Maggots vs. Grubs?
LAA vs. Red Sox?

Or, on another track, what if you got Huston vs. AN? Huston vs. Rich? Then what?

Ahh!!!
Don't make me choose!! Ewan is just..... <sigh>

I'd have to say Huston for pure Moneybuttness factor.

I have come to a conclusion.

I have a freaky Harry Potter fetish.

You know what...
I hate to agree, but I think I might have to agree. Your Harry Potter fetish DOES approach something like...freaky obsession. :-O

you want freaky, though?! FRANK THE BUNNY! That thing is EVIL. Imagine seeing THAT in a dark alley.

LOL
I'd hate to run into that on a dark alley. Then again, I'd have Huston with me in the dark alley with me and he'd drive him away with his mad nunchuck ninja skills.

Huston's such a Ho-Ho....

Yes...
Ho-ho's are YUMMY. Hey, wasn't Bobby the one that AsGirl thought I was comparing to chocolate trifle, when I was only having chocolate trifle for dessert?
I think Rich is dark chocolate or chocolate mousse. :D

Whenever I think of Nick Swisher, I think of "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy". If you've known me long enough, you know that I can't get my mind out of the gutter. Baseball players and my mind... let's just say with the little ADD that I have, conversations never get boring.

I wanted to watch Star Wars just because Anakin took his shirt off. I was planning what I was gonna scream in the theater.... and I never went. Phooey.

The GRAND ARGUMENT: Why GreennGoldGirl should watch Star Wars:
  1. Ewan McGregor is in the first three
  2. Hayden Christensen in II and III
  3. Sweaty Sexy Shirtless Anakin
  4. Amazing lightsaber battles.
  5. The coolest bad guy ever invented in Episode I
  6. The wonderful opportunity to make fun of cheesy romantic lines
I'll think of more....

  1. Yeah, there are easy ways to force people to vote for the horrible choices, but I didn't want to do that. HOWEVER, I was considering that every time you go up a voting level (every 50 votes or so), having the program figure out a Very Painful Choice (judging from your voting record) and forcing you to vote that before you can go on. Deliciously painful? Just plain painful?
  2. I've almost used up my ideas for improving Moneybutt. Further ideas:
  • track who submits which picture
  • allow people to write very short comments on either entities or on pictures, which get randomly displayed
  • more/fancier user achievement badges
  • report instantly how others have voted on the one you just voted on
Any other ideas for making it more fun? (or comments on these ideas?)

by Apricot on Nov 13, 2005 12:53 AM PST reply actions

I like the first idea!
Well, okay, I like all of the ideas. Also, I always kind of want to know who has the same #1 person as me. Well, okay, no one, but maybe who's most similar? I know you already have that but it only says how we're different, but I'd like to know why we're the same.

Pictures and people
track who submits which picture

You mean you don't do that already? * Breathes a sigh of relief * ... Seriously, perhaps you could do that but only divulge the submitters' identities after voting has closed. Otherwise you might have people voting against certain entities out of spite or protectionism for somebody else's entities.

you mean
like any tied entities, like battle of the .650 entities? I could do that. But I thought it would be more painful <rubs hands> if it were only the battle of the most loved and loathed.

In theory we now alternate taking your favorite pair you haven't rated yet and your lowest unrated pair.  In my case, that always turns out to be the top and bottom two. In theory, if you vote a lot it should gracefully drop down until it finds a pair that you haven't rated yet... is that working for the people who (for instance) have achieved Major Metallic Butt status?

It has been working.
I guess my issue is that the painful one is becoming not so painful. Mostly because the ones that have 1.000 are ones that I have only voted 3 or 4 times for and just happened to win. I mean, Bobby Crosby vs. Cartman! No contest! But yeah, if there was a way to throw in directly tied entities, that would be good. That way I know my painful one won't always be vs. Bobby.

Ok, I take it back!
Just cause I said that, my painful one was not Bobby!  It was George W. Bush vs. Alissa Milano! Now THAT is what I call painful!!

Oh Thank YOU!
I was afraid I was one of the only ones voting against Stanford! I can't help myself, I went to SJSU!

ok
I tweaked it a little so it isn't always the top or bottom pair, but it will be in the top or bottom few. Let me know how that works out.

For a painful choice, I just got
The Donnas (8-7) versus Kermit (4-3). Is it now going after near .500 entities?

by Nimvee on Nov 14, 2005 2:09 PM PST up reply actions

yes part of a devious plan
to introduce dumb bugs into the script. It works now. You should get a slightly varying selection of your top and bottom pairs.

Booo.
Kotsay vs. Hatty? And that was only my first painful choice. Meh. I don't know if I'm strong enough for this.

Crap! Kotsay vs. Huddy. Pretty soon it's gonna be Kotsay vs. the world, cuz I gotta stick with current A's...

And I knew this was gonna happen. Kotsay vs. AN. I just don't know what to do...

Painful choice...
Boston Red Sox vs. Jellied Ram's Testicles. I hate Apricot. Hmm... if I refresh... Huddy vs. Million Bucks... refresh... Katie Holmes vs. Wedgies... phew, better.

bugs be gone
I believe it's working now. Refresh should do you no good. You'll get a mix of best pairs and worst pairs, sometimes ignoring ones with perfect scores. Feels good and painful when I test it out.

Hurts so good... c'mon baby... etc.

so...
some of you are for the fifth or sixth time getting close to the end of my list of voter levels.

Should I make up more, or is it more satisfying to reach the end of the list?

Ok, Issue!
To Vote or Not to Vote for The Bash Brother... That is the question! I hate, HATE, HATE!!! Canseco! But I love MacGwire! What is a girl to do!?

Throwback Uniforms
Does anyone have any more pictures of the Throwback Uniforms? I really like the pic of Zito in one and if anyone has more pics of the current team in them, I would really appreciate you sharing them with me. Thanks!
