Sadness.
Slitting their wrists I presume.
maybe they are tired of watching us squeak out 4
hits a game?...
taking BP in my backyard...
think I have a shot...
Watching video of some
Remember when the A's worked the count?
94 pitches for A's pitcher, 56 for Texas.
Or 10.6 per inning. It's not the thing.
Hell, I can do better.
I remember when the A's use to play baseball.
Heard the weekend games on XM
With the Twins announcers...Jack Morris doing the analysis. It sounded like Jack was dying to put the uniform back on and face these guys...noting that they had pretty much lost their patience entirely and were swinging for the fences every chance they got.
Figured it was something
All just going batty over the lack of hits, trying to end an 8 day slump with one swing.
i hate to be this guy.......
but guys this is bad team we are all watching. the bullpen is a nightmare, the offense is the biggest collection of shit i have ever seen, the back end of the rotation is putrid. i mean gaudin is basically the number 2 starter now and we didnt even think he was going to be starter. 8 straight loses and only going south.
by bigmacattack @ Athletics Nation on Jul 16, 2007 8:37 PM PDT reply actions
I don't think you hate being that guy
or you wouldn't have been.
Second of all how is Gaudin no.2? Did we lose Blanton or Haren somewhere?
What? Really??
I don't know...you're going to have a hard time convincing everyone else on this site...especially with the extreme lack of evidence.
gaudin has a lower ERA
than blanton. haren is coming back down to Earth like we all figured would happen.i love haren a lot, too. we could make a list of the pitchers, if that's what you want to call them, that have been in the bullpen this year and we could all have a collective laugh together.

I don't know...

At least we had the sense to leave
Philly. 10K losses in over a hundred years. One WS. Now thats futility folks.
10,000 losses: that's 100 losses, for *100 years!*

Damn. I never thought about it that way.
Thats some serious use of the suckage factor.
Why is Crosby still playing?
He hasn't had an RBI in about a month!
That is one thing that I just have trouble
accepting. Why does he continue to play when he is so lost in the batter's box? It's almost cruel that the A's do it to him.
by ohtobe21likehuston on Jul 16, 2007 8:42 PM PDT up reply actions
Reasons to play Scutaro over Crosby:
- He occasionally comes through
- He's a much smarter player
- He's fun to watch and root for with his underdog story
He's gonna get hot any day now. Any day
that they decide to send him to Sactown to learn a new approach.

Solo homer on July 5 vs. Seattle
Going into tonight, that was his only RBI in 22 games, dating back to the final game of the Cardinals series (June 17).
Might as well go all out
and try to get that number one draft spot, sort of like the Celtics attempted. Is this team looking at last place by the time AN day rolls around?
Hi Everybody!!

why do we struggle against every 2 bit pitcher?
is it because teams are told to pound the strike zone and take their chances? the a's can't hit and certainly can't string together rallies without walks?
the number of guys that make us look bad while sporting 4+ or 5+ era's are astounding.
with tejeda going tomorrow with his 6+ era, i'm thinking he no hits us.
10 consecutive games of 3 runs or less...
man that sure does blow.
I think that since DJ is not playing...
they might be considering bringing Barton up...
Game's barely half over,
and I've lost all interest. Braden was interesting to watch the first few innings but the absolute suckage of the offense makes me want to make drying paint watching a hobby.
That is a much healthier hobby...

The Thing About Kendall.....
....is that no matter where he is in the line up, he'll be protection for whomever is hitting in front of him because of his reputation...
Are they actually serious?
Or maybe every A's fan is living a dream this year where we think Kendall's hitting .220 or whatever he was but in reality it's .320
You have to have at least 6 holes in your head to think Kendall provides protection for ANYONE. Maybe Bobby Crosby but even that's a stretch.

pffffftt..
next you'll be telling me we traded JK
This is familiar....
I'd buy that walk for a dollar
Bobby Crosby just walked.
Am I dreaming?
it took me 7 innings to figure it out but I got
it.
Chavez was originally in the 5 spot in the lineup before a last minute scratch, so Bobby got popped up and Scut put in Bobby's spot in the order at 8.
Not justifying it just explaining.
Kotsay's gameday pic is pissed
at the Kendall trade.
I like BoCro's new approach...just don't swing at
anything...I think he should keep that approch....
Can we please just bunt them over...
what is that illegal?
Ty Van Burkleo needs to require a guy to take
a pitch after a freaking walk has been issued to the previous batter. Especially when it's Crosby for God sakes.

It was obvious from the first inning

Since the game is a bit dull, here is an article
on my favorite career minor leaguer who is always upbeat, smiling, and holding on to his dream. I can't help but root for this guy.
http://www.charlotte.com/knights/sto...
I tried to make him my favorite when Jake wasn't
pitching anywhere this season, but once he got signed, I was drawn back in. But I still check on Ziggy and love his blogs.
No, I started following him when he was playing
for the Atlanta AAA team and made such an impression on my son. Been pulling for him ever since. when he didn't get signed during spring training, I contacted his HS and found out he was working out with them. His former coach stayed in touch with me and told me how hard Jake was working and how strong his faith was that he'd get another chance. He never seems to let the bad times get to him. Gotta be one of the most grounded people I've ever seen in sports.
No, I was living in Norfolk, VA and he was in
Richmond. Like an idiot, I left living 30 mins from the ocean front for this this flat, treeless state known as Texas. I'm about 20 mins from the Rangers ballpark which is a good thing when the A's are in town.
Aw poor you.
Isn't that where Oh2b is too? Oh and I asked about Atlanta because we are going there next month for vacation.
Atlanta is nice. The East Coast is nice, not as
nice as the West Coast, but wonderful compared to here. I don't know where Oh2b is from.
Oh2b? Aren't you on the East Coast somewhere?
Oh yeah, I remember you saying that she was.
Are you in Ca? Be prepared for a LOT of humidity! LOL The games should be fun for you. Start practicing your tomahawk chop.
I am worried about that humidity.
But I am a gamer. Actually looking forward to seeing the games. and Yes, I live in Contra Costa County.
I'm jealous. I miss the bay area. A LOT.
Have fun when you go! Take advantage of all the air conditioning there.
Can't afford it. Should have never left.
If there was any way, believe me, I'd come. I work for Lockheed and there are always jobs there. But I can't afford the housing.

Standings irrelevant at this point
I really don't directly care whether the A's finish ahead of the Rangers or not. What's the difference if the A's win 75 and the Rangers win 74, or vice versa? I mainly would like to see some of the young players (Suzuki, Braden, Barton, Buck) establish themselves in the remaining 70 games, and set a positive tone going into Spring Training 2008.
Although, if things go relatively well the rest of the season...it sure would be nice to tie the Oakland A's record with a 9th consecutive winning season.

Nice bat slam by Kotsay.
Finally, some hint that he doesn't like this crap either.
Nice, Kotsay.
Your bat is not a gardening implement.
Kotsay calm down
He threw his bat like he was surprised that he was going to pop out - we all knew it was going to happen.
He was pissed about strike one.
Because the ump gave Gagne the first pitch, which was high, he expanded the strike zone on that pitch, which was really high.
He was probably pissed at himself that he didn't lay off it.
Kotsay looking like a minor leaguer
