DLD 6/28/07 Eh, What the Hell
A's lost. That sucks. Do you really want to read the AP game wrap (or yesterday's game wrap)? Didn't think so.
Gwen Knapp is ridiculous(warning, article is about the Giants.) There's a link.
NBA draft is today. There's talk the Warriors might trade up. No link for that one.
Luckily for us, in these dark times there remains a limitless supply of cars that need to be parked.

car parking
I tried the game last night. Just couldn't get it. Is it easier with a touch pad or a mouse?
I did spend two hours popping balloons though. No wonder I'm tired today....
I got yer link right heyuh!
Not exactly the sharpest messen in der schublade...
I had to dig through the recesses of my brain
to remember what that was. I quit piano lessons when I was 12.
Illuminaughty?
I have a t-shirt with a fermata on the front.
No.
I was actually doing work today. Manual inventory. Blegh.
Ha! Me too...
However we have to start inventory so early that I was done 15 minutes before game time. And yet I'm still at work...
We started first thing this morning....
and we're still working on it. We're waiting for one department to get us the second count. Sigh. A nice little break to park some cars.
whats worse
Down by a run in the bottom of the 9th, men on 2nd and 3rd, one out.
Pop out by Stewart, fly out by Kotsay, game over.
That was more brutal than the homer Flores gave up, just because we've seen it soooo many times.
You just nominated yourself to hold Sal.
Just rememeber, you break him, you buy him.
If anyone needs an extra "e"...
Bob Ctvrtlik
well, I haven't done it in forever,
but hell, if you got extra, I'm game.

Is a bunt too much to ask?
Could Geren do something off the script? Put a pinch runner in? Anything, make it different.
I was hoping Stewart would at least hit it to the
track for a sac fly.
How about a steal of home? ANYthing. Today's loss was almost as tough as Blanton's last outing.

sigh
And the silly rules about ERA give him 3 for the day, rather than putting any blame on Flores.
Statistics don't just lie - they cheat and steal too. And want your daughter's honor too.
Mmmm, chat au van
Mechanic Scott Bella, who works at an auto service shop in this south suburb of Chicago, thought he heard a cat's meow coming from a customer's van he was driving on Tuesday.
...
When Bella returned to the auto service shop, he lifted the van's hood to find a kitten sitting next to the radiator on the steamy day.

When my cat had kittens, and I still had 3 left..
I went out to my car and opened the trunk to get something. A minute later I returned and closed the trunk, then drove 15 minutes away to work. I parked up on a hill were there were no parking meters, and I wouldn't have returned until at least 8 hours later, and it was going to be in the 90's that day. As I started to walk away I heard a faint mewing. I went back and opened trunk. All 3 kittens had climbed in there when I wasn't looking. Fortunately I found them before they sat all day in my trunk in the hot sun.
A few months later my cat got tangled in the wires in the engine compartment of a car that was parked in our lot. It took us a good 10-15 minutes to get her out, and we had to disconnect a bunch of wires. Fortunately, both the cat and the car ran fine afterwards.
just what we've all been waiting for
Spice Girls reunion tour. Maybe they can have a Day On The Green show and f##k up the field too.
Wow
Just a terrible performance by John Parrish in the 8th inning vs. the Yankees...and Gary Thorne and Jim Palmer are not cutting him or the Orioles' bullpen any slack on the MASN telecast.
Nice memory by Palmer too (on the XM coverage)
During the rain delay...referred to a 1974 game he started at Fenway in which Bill Lee pitched a 10-inning complete game victory...in spite of 3 rain delays which totaled 3 hours and 30 minutes (which meant the game required over 6-1/2 hours to play). You think a pitcher would be allowed to do this today?
Thorne and Palmer are one of the more candid and refreshing broadcast teams out there. We could use voices like that on the A's telecasts.
I'm out
Was here because the NYY at BAL game was in a rain delay...that game has now been suspended, with the Yankees having scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th to take an 8-6 lead. Will be resumed at that point, presumably on the Yanks' next visit to Baltimore on July 27.
In regard to our discussions in last night's game thread...many years ago, the Yankees' top of the 8th would have been wiped out and the score would have reverted to the completion of the last full inning, meaning the final score would have been BAL 6, NYY 4 in 7 innings. This rule was changed a long time ago; the Yankees 4 runs in the top of the 8th will count and the game is suspended. This has nothing to do with the rule change made in the 2006-2007 offseason.
gotgreen has messed up our numbering...but since the A's are going to Yankee Stadium, here's your 37:

Now look here, kids.
I'm leaving town for a week, and when I get back I expect you guys to be in first place. You know I love you, but I just need a little time out right now. Uh uh, no arguing, just get to it.
