Around SBN: LeBron James Laughs In Kevin Garnett's Face

Open Thread: Game 156 - A's at Seattle

The A's and Esteban Loaiza with an 11-8 record and a 4.70 ERA take on the Mariners and Cesar Jimenez who has no record and an 18.90 ERA.  This is Jimenez's first start as his three other appearances this year have been out of the bullpen.

So the A's go to Seattle and play a team that they've beaten 15 straight times looking for their first AL West title since 2003.  They also send their most consistent starter since August started.

Hopefully that means that the A's can reduce that number to at least one, if not clinch this bad boy tonight.

The A's send out this lineup to attempt to accomplish that feat:

Kendall
Kielty
Bradley
Thomas
Payton
Chavez
Swisher
Ellis
Scutaro

The A's send out their patented facing-a-lefty lineup.  It's time for some Klown Power to help catapult the boys to October.

The Mariners send out this lineup against Loaiza:

Suzuki
Beltre
Johjima
Ibanez
Sexson
Broussard
Lopez
Snelling
Betancourt

The game isn't televised in Sacramento...FSN Bay Area has decided to pick up the Giants game despite the fact that the team from across the Bay will be soon partying on the golf course.  So I'll rely on AN to give me the sights and sounds from Seattle as the game goes on.

LET'S GO A'S!!!!!!!  END THE DRAMA!!!

On another note Espn just showed a commercial showing the tigers advertising the ALDS and the date was the 3rd and the time was at 1ET. So it looks like if we end up playing the tigers the game will be at 10:00AM.

I heart LL already.
Esteban Loaiza has put up a 2.15 ERA and a 43/7 K/BB over his last eight starts, carrying the Oakland pitching staff on his back when they needed it the most. Cesar Jimenez has three e's in his name. Matchups don't get much closer than this.

I don't think it matters
as the batter would immediately ask for a fresh ball. Someone (gammons? Neyer?) opined that one possible factor in higher averages is the fact that balls are always pristine. even 10 years ago, the number of balls used per game were significantly lower (thus, softer and harder to see)

One thing we're forgetting

I'm DOOMEDED. The Sky is falling. We're scReWeD!

Jesus H. Carp. Get a grip. It's baseball. Its supposed to be nervewracking. It's supposed to be suspenseful. It's supposed to be unpredictable. Enjoy it. The A's are going to the playoffs for the first time in 3 years. ENJOY IT!

Suddenly, my mlb.tv....
...has gone all Old School. I'm getting the FSN Norhtwest ads and promos between innings.

I WANT MY TOM PETTY! (I'm obviously suffering from some version of Stokholm Syndrome...)
