Hats off to Hatteberg...one more time

I am so happy for the guy. He didn't give up after the A's passed him by. He signed with Cinci, worked his way into the starting lineup, who knows how. Must be those intangibles....And now he opens the season with a 3-run bomb! YES! GO HATTE! I know he isnt an A anymore, but I just thought that was great, maybe not a "diary of substance," but I am cerrtainly gonna miss him. I always felt he didnt reach his potential in oakland, but then I look at stats and remember I'm incredibly biased. Anyway, here's to a good full season of ABs for the mad hatter.

Haha, I was just about to post about this.
HELL YEAH HATTY!

I heart him, but it's good to know that Dad's rockin' it old school in Cinci.

He followed his HR with a walk. :-) He's still playing Oakland ball!

"This must be heaven," he says.
"No. It's Oakland."

NOBODY puts Hatty in a corner!

knowing Zambrano...
I'm surprised he didn't take an HBP in his next at bat (althought I'm not sure if Carlos was still in the game at that point)

Where was that with the A's
on an opening night?

Good for him.

I don't know about opening night...
...but according to my bottle opener, he hits a game-winning jack about 4 or 5 times a week!

Just goes to show
The senior circuit is easy. What a noble idea, get a fast ball in a fast ball count. Who would have thunk it.

That's all well and good
but Zambrano's on my fantasy team! He was my #3 pick and he's getting clobbered! Couldn't you have waited for tomorrow, Hatte?

Be more concerned with..
Having Zambrano as your number 3....I would be very concerned if:

a) He was my (real) team's opening day starter
b) He was my (fantasy) team's third pick.

You are asking for a long long year, either way.

Yeah,
I wanted a solid, good strikeout pitcher at the time, and all the other good ones were gone...I have Scott Kazmir on my team too, and he was crap today...at the moment, my team ERA is 11.42. At least I've got 6 RBIs right now.

We're just loaning him to the Reds.
He's still our Hatte.

Scott Hatteberg, Hittin' Machine!
I took my A's bucket hat out of the closet in preparation for tonight, and realized I have to move my Hatteberg pin to the Alumni Section in the back of the hat along with Miggy and Damon. Very sad.

Good for Hatte
Class guy. He deserves all the playing time he can get. Congrats old man.

I was at the game
Hatte got a nice ovation.

And, by the way, Dunn made 1 error and horribly misplayed 2 balls that, in total, led to at least 5-6 runs.  And I was defending him, saying he wasn't that bad a fielder!

I still don't see why...
they didn't put him at 1B and keep Wily Mo, finally unleashing the murderers' row lineup I've been waiting to see over there for 3 years or so...oh well, making Hatteberg a starter again is the best decision they could have made

I was there!!
I was at the Reds game today actually! I was so excited when Hatte hit the homer! I was telling my sister that he used to be an A-- she wasn't too enthusiatic about it... but either way it was very exciting and I was definitely happy for Hatte!

P.S. The Dunn error (which really should've been about 5 errors) were HORRIBLE. They absolutely should've been caught. I sat right behind the left field foul pole... poor Dunn didn't have too good of a day. The first week of the season is really which team sucks the least, not which team is necessarily the best =) HAHA.
