1/24 DLD: T-minus 4 days until Fanfest!
Happy Tuesday, A's fans!
Fanfest is in four days! I can't WAIT! I am craaaaving A's baseball!
Get to know our #2 play-by-play man. Scout.com has a good interview with Vince Cotroneo on their website.
The Yankees are interested in Mike Piazza. Yawn. Who AREN'T they interested in?
The Rangers are after Roger Clemens. Clemens possibly to the Rangers? YIKES.
Okay, time to get a little bit of work done but here's a nice way to start off the morning!

(thanks you, jensbaseballpage.com!)

I'm sad
So can people please take a lot of photos and post them in a diary, as well as recap what it was like for all of us that can't make because we're geographically disadvantaged? I'm looking for a basic scoop: anecdotes relating highlights, lowlights, surprises, who made out with whom, etc.

Will Kotsay need a different number?
The daughter of Jackie Robinson thinks Major League Baseball should not retire Roberto Clemente's No. 21, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2304057
I don't feel that they should retire the number 21. Roberto was a great player, but he didn't transcend anything. Although he was doing humanitarian work when he died.
They would grandfather it

I don't believe in retiring numbers
When do you stop? There's a limited supply of numbers out there. I find it funny how teams like the Cowboys seem to retire everyone's jersey #.
Do like the Raiders, they don't retire #'s because they want their young players to proudly aspire to be like the greats of the past.

Character counts....
Urbina, 31, is currently in a Venezuelan prison on attempted murder charges. The source said if Urbina is set free, he could be a good fit out of the bullpen for the Nationals.
It seems all the best relief pitchers are tied up on attempted murder charges.
Too funny...
By the way, the European press has a different noun/verb agreement when it comes to team names. Every team is considered a plural "they," never a singular "it." For example, here a story would say:
Oakland is five games up on Anaheim.
or
The Athletics are five games up on Anaheim.
In Europe, they would say:
Oakland are five games up on Anaheim.
That is, if they knew who Oakland and Anaheim are. Is. Were. Huh?

MLB on XM was playing that clip from The Who's "Won't get Fooled Again" a lot tonight.
Anyone else listen to 175 on XM? Other than AN, it's how I keep from going nuts in the winter without baseball.
