Bring it back to baseball/OPEN THREAD
Not that I have anything against all the Katrina threads. Just that I want to bring to the subjects back to baseball.
I don't understand the A's offense. Um? It's all 'er nothin. It cain't be in between, it cain't be now and then... One day they're awesome. Another they look like Neanderthals swinging helplessly away at a tree under the delusion it'll fall down if you swing hard enough.
Today was one of those 'awesome' days. 12 runs? I swear that at the start of the season, Billy, being the genius he is, cloned the entire team. Occasionally he'll stick one team out, and then the clones. The clones really can't hit, and for some reason, they still play occasionally. But then the real guys will get out there, and voila! Runs!
But really, this was a good game to win. I still hold the A's should've swept the Angels, but killing the Spankees would be just fine with me. That, and the Mariners should kill the Angels. It all works out.
I found a negative run on ESPN.com tonight. I clicked on 'scores' under MLB, and at the A's game, it was convinced that the A's had scored a negative run in the fifth inning. So, I wonder how they did that. Any ideas?
What is with Gameday? Does anyone know why it gets gorked so often? Is the person reporting gorked, or is it just the computer itself plotting evil plots and scheming evil schemes? It seems as if a game can't go through without Gameday going bonkers somewhere in it. It spent a whole hour thinking that it was the fifth inning, Scoot was up, and there was no out recorded. I thought it might catch up, but no, I waited and waited, getting more and more frustrated with it, until atomopawn suggested I use www.cbs.sportsline.com. And it was working ALL THAT TIME! Talk about irony.
So, congrats to our cloned boys, but maybe let's just use the 'good' team?
You guys can feel free to discuss any of the above subjects or whatever you wish to say. That's why I made the thread...to clear up confusion...

Oh, and in case you missed it in the game thread:
Oh okay (none / 0)
So it's like a secret to people who really know you and not to random people on the internet who are just plain crazy?

pretty much. (none / 0)
I'm a tad more comfortable admitting my mancrushes to the rest of you guys -- mainly because there's already such a subculture of drooling over certain players here at AN, so it's something that I find it hard not to join in on the fun. ;)
Most of my friends and all of my family are strictly non-baseball fans, so for them to find out I have mancrushes on baseball players would induce little more than weird stares from them.
Barry Zito is my secret mancrush. There. I said it.

Oy, I botched that sentence.
...so it's something that I find fun to join in on.

Has anyone read "Sophie's World"?
Philosophy oftens studies the mind and thoughts. Our own Barry Zito is very philosophical in a way - his whole 'it's all mental' and his zen thing.

Since this is an open thread...
In my dream I was at an A's/Royals game. As I'm sitting in the stands I find out I'm the starting pitcher for the Royals. I freak out trying to remember pitch grips and how to throw a circle change. The umpires also wouldn't give me more than eight pitches to warm up. I have on jeans and flip-flops.... I had to do the pre-game interview.
I woke up before I took the mound, but it was nuts.

I remember most of my dreams.
My dreams are crazy. Once, I had a dream the mute kid that rode my school bus worked at Hooters in Columbia, MO. The bus got stuck coming home and I had to get the bus out by strapping a rope around my waist pulling it out. I can remember exactly what the bus looked like, who was driving, and what we were wearing.
