Eric we Will miss you

As much as i am really happy too see no more of byrnes fielding and inconsistent hitting, I definetly will miss him. He has made some of the best catches ive seen and also had that long hit streak in 2003.

Clearly kennedy will be traded, we dont need a starter especially with a 7 era, Witasick looks like a solid righty out of the pen, but our pen is deep so im expecting to see another trade as soon as tonight. If no trade though, I really like kennedy , but theres no place for him. If i recall there were about 6 or 7 teams looking into getting him.

For everyone who did not like the Payton trade, Im predicting If he stays that it will be one of Billy's BEST.

I do not think Kennedy will be
flipped to another team.  But I could be completly wrong.  My guess is he is our #5 starter or him and Sarloos will both be spot starters.  When it comes to that 5th day, who ever matches up better will go and the other will be in the pen.  So essentially it may be a 6 man rotation with sarloos and  kennedy switching off based on the match up.  But i could be completly wrong.

Unfortunately,

the A's signed a 28 or 29 year old journeyman who sucked, no body wanted him, he couldn't pitch, the A's were looking for a middle reliever, his name Dave Stewart.  He was the #1 guy on the best team in the late 80's, early 90's.
Too many guys throw around the label, "he sucks".
When BB traded Weaver for Lilly, everyone said "Lilly sucks" Weaver is a "superstar."
The experts said BB has lost his mind.  Well, Lilly doesn't suck and Weaver is not a superstar.
If BB sees something in Kennedy I will go with that.  You never have enough good pitchers, and pitching in Coors is not an easy thing.  Oakland is a great place to pitch.  The A's don't have to worry about Kennedy coming in and starting, or pitching in the 5th spot.

don't forget eck
He was traded for in the spring of 87.  People used the term, "washed up drunk."

actually
i think lilly is better than weaver.  i don't remember lilly being overwhelmed by his emotions to the point where he had big numbers put on him.  weaver on the other hand, just look at his last game.  he didn't get an outside call and after that, it a 0-0, he himself gave up 3 runs.  weaver has to learn how put that emotion into something constructive.  while lilly, i missed his wierd pitching hitch (the hitch that caused him to miss the whole season after he got traded to us)

It's hard enough
to find 5 quality starters; I doubt the A's will use 6. You figure out who your best 5 are and run with them.

Possibilities for Kennedy, other than joining the rotation, include AAA (to sort out his problems, or at least get his car towed), bullpen, or packaged to go elsewhere.

What I am saying is
the 5th spot comes up, we are facing a team that kills righties and is sub par against lefties.  Well spot start Kennedy.  If it is vice versa you go with Sarloos..  Spot starts have always been around.  Why nott now?

I am going to miss byrnes.
And here is a story about why you should hold off on getting jerseys for players.  This year, I got myself an Eric Byrnes green jersey via the internet and they would not ship to canada for a reasonable price.  So I had it shipped to my parents place in california.  When it got there I told my parents to hold onto it as I would get it when I went back to visit.  Some things came up (with my wife's health) and I decided to skip visiting in june.  Well, as of now, my brand new Eric Byrnes # 22 green A's jersey has yet to be worn.  And he is not an A anymore.....  I also have a Durazo shit that I have yet to wear.

seriously, I am going to miss him.  I am going to miss the spark and the hustle.  I am going to miss the diving catches and the energy.  I actually understand why people tend to either love him or hate him and, even though I can tell that ultimatly he is an average player, he was ours and he was special.  I think that he is the first of the players that came through sacramento and became a regular and those players are special to me.
Good luck in coors Eric, I hope that you hit 30 dingers there (and I hope that your glove improves!)!

His hustle and energy were equalled by none.  He was an exciting player to watch, and it will be fun to see him flying around Coors!

Thin air
Will the thin air allow him to run faster and dive farther?  And misjudge fly balls worse?

yep...
it'll be an insane sight.  Byrnes will be able to run faster, jump farther, and over/underrun flyballs worse than ever in coors.  BUT, lucky for him, most fly balls hit in the air in colorado will be going out of the park, so he won't have to worry about fielding too much.

It's great for Byrnes
He will play every day, get to hit a lot of homers, the fans will love him, he will get a nice fat contract next year, good luck Byrnsie, will miss you a lot.

I think...
I might want to change my name from double hustle 22 to #7, Crosby is probably the second fastest guy on the team.
