Features to Add?

What Features do you think We (Blez) should add to the site that would make our AN expirance that much enjoyable? We've had the rating system introduced, with mild fanfare and some complaining, and we've had the highly successfull "Recommended Diaries" section, which I for one cant remember living with out.

But what else (if anything) should be added or fixed?

For myself, I would like to be able to fix the Edit Diary option, to make it so you can edit a diary you wrote with out the html and needing to add in the p's.

Second, how about an Instant Messanger link beside your name, like done in many forums. That is to say, AIM, MSN, YIM, etc.

And finaly, again like forums have, buttons adding in or at least a description on how to add; pictures, url, etc to Diaries, instead of making us ask or guess the html to do so.

Finaly, maybe a link to the Organizational Depth Chart that was created by someone in one of the Depth Chart threads.

Thats my beef. Simple, I know, but thats it. If the additions are too difficult or unnessiary, I understand.

What additions, Subtractions or Fixes do you think AN needs or could use?

A Chatroom would be GREAT!

The alternitive to a Web Based chatroom, which might be buggy and not worth it, is the IRC Chatroom. If someone could set one up, that'd be great.

a live chatroom would be awesome. We have enough people that log in right now that a chatroom for gamedays would be very popular.

an'ers photos section only

maybe in the upper right between diaries and search. could be me, but first diaries i look for daily are the fans' games pics.

fan pictures are always awesome to look at so it would be nice if those diaries were somehow grouped together.

Possible Problem

The only drawbacks I see here are;

Bandwidth and File Size. It may take up too much space on the AN server, and might drain too much bandwidth with people viewing all the pics. Then you get the problem of people off-site linking.

I like the "AN" and the elephant, but not the wavy "Athletics Nation" script, nor the black and white stripes. I'd like to see the elephant next/over/near the "AN", and the whole logo in one color. But I have to say it's looking promising.

If I could add one "thing"

it would be a place where you could view each member's photo and accompanying "stats" (age, location, etc.), so you know who you're talking to.

But I really think any "what could improve AN?" diary or comment--even if just in the form of musing--should be prefaced with appreciation being expressed for what Blez HAS done and how much time and energy it takes just to maintain what there IS. So I just want to put that out there. The status quo, IMO, is awesome.
