Around SBN: BTB's Final Preseason NCAA Hoops Bracket

Open Thread: Game 161 - A's at Seattle

On the plus side, in this season's 161st game, no hearts will be broken. (Was Darin Erstad's double solely responsible for my sudden and inexplicable fear of prime numbers?) Joe Blanton, 11-12 despite sporting a top-10 worthy 3.55 ERA, is trying to even his record for the season. He is opposed by Jeff Harris, who is trying to get someone to care.

After the game, stay tuned for my heartwarming tribute to A's Traveling Secretary Mickey Morabito, who will be thanked for his heroic perseverance in finding the lowest flights on Expedia.com while silently fighting through carpal tunnel syndrome.

Today's starting lineups:

Ellis
Kendall
Kotsay
Chavez
Payton
Johnson
Hatteberg
Swisher
Scutaro

Ichiro
Betancourt
Ibanez
Sexson
Beltre
Dobbs
Lopez
Bubela
Rivera

It's "Repetitive Stress Injury."  All ANers are probably familiar with the injury.

They are both affected
by typing, no? The people I know who suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome can't type long without pain. Same with RSI, in which typing is also often the culprit.

Actually, I'm not sure
I thought they were the same thing, but I could be wrong.  Either way, the repetetive stress on my carpal tunnels is causing me injury.

Anybody know what channel the game is on?
There is crazy confusion on this. The article says FSN, the website says KICU, and my TiVo can't find it at all. Can someone help?

game on tv
the game was supposed to be on kicu but they took it off they said because they wanted to leave it open for espn. guess kicu thought we might have had a chance at the end. i had called because there was an error of another game that was supposed to be on and wasnt. they showed a game a day that wasnt on schedule so the game i was emailing about they took off.

I'm telling you,
Cleveland is the A's this year. All the more reason to think they'll miss the playoffs by one game. If they lose and the Yankees don't blow a 4-run lead in the 9th, the Yankees will clinch the AL East today--a good reason to wear black throughout October.

Stupid TV
There is only two games left and they can't show the game on TV, what the hell is that! On KICU there is some dumb movie, on FSN is a football game that is going to end soon! What is the problem here? I am too much of a visual person to sit and listen to the radio! I want it on TV! <sobs>

playoff scenarios
My understanding, assuming Rivera doesn't give up 4 runs in the ninth here:
Yankees win the east.
If Boston loses, Cleveland wins, and then Cleveland wins 1-game playoff: Yankees/Indians, White Sox/Angels.
All other scenarios: Yankees/Angels, Sox/Sox

are pretty inspiring, doncha think?

You'd think for Blanton's sake they could figure out a way to score a couple more runs, but that's too much to ask, I guess.

Just a horrendous September all the way around-- whether in contention or not, this team collapsed.

Two years in a row and it's a huge question going forward. End of the season is a character test after such a long grind-- this team-- and particularly the players in the field-- isn't passing the test.

Reminds me of the game I just watched
Izzy just loaded the bases... and struck out Dunn looking on his curve to end the game... hopefully Huston can get out of it

C'mon Huston. 1 more out.

I love Marco even MORE
right now.

DAMMIT HUSTON. YOU LOVE CUPCAKES MORE THAN THIS.

His pretty ERA has been brought to tears lately. :-( At least he'll have a nice, cozy offseason to rest that arm.

it's not ringing a bell. Though I do feel a dull ache in the base of my skull.

And you have no proof Kendall DOESN'T live under a bridge. Have you seen his helmet?

But I wanted to see Blanton finish with an even record. Just a little sumthin sumthin for all the wins he should've notched.
