GOG 2014 #33 A's vs. Rangers (Answers Posted!)

The A's get ready for their second of three straight series against teams from Texas. Only difference is they leave the pleasant California weather and head into the sweltering heat of Texas. Let's hope they keep hydrated!

Questions:

1. Series Outcome: 3 games [3 points]

2. 3rd Time's a Charm: Hammel makes his third start for the A's. His first two were....well...forgettable. Let's see if the Rangers bring out the best in him! Guess IP / H / ER / BB / K for his start. [2 points each] [10 total]

3. Three poor choices: The Rangers are throwing out Tepesch, Mikolas and MartinezWilliams against the A's. These guys have not been good recently. In their last three starts combined they've gone 1 and 6 with an ERA close to 8! Let's see which one of these guys underperforms the others in each category. For each category, guess Tepesch/Mikolas/MartinezWilliams: Fewest IP / Most H / Most ER / Most BB / Fewest K. (Ties count for points if both are worse than the third.) [2 points each] [10 total]

4. Three good choices: They've been called "Runs DMC". They've been called All-Stars. I call them Donaldson, Moss and Cespedes. Choose one and guess: PA / H / XBH / BB / K for the series. Choose wisely, since if you select the one who plays the best you'll get a bonus 3 points! [Best denoted by H + BB - K (ties count for points)] [2 points each, then 3 points] [13 total]

5.Three questions: For each team, answer these three questions: 1) Does a Relief Pitcher get a Win? 2) Does a Relief Pitcher pitch more than 2 IP in a single appearance? 3) Does a Relief Pitcher get a Blown Save? (Three for the A's and three for the Rangers.) [1 point each] [6 total]

6. Three answers: For each team, guess the guy who is described by each answer. 1) He had a Stolen Base. 2) He had a Home Run. 3) He had a Sac Fly. (Three for the A's and three for the Rangers. "Nobody" is an acceptable choice.) [2 points each] [12 total]

7. The three best: Name the position players with the highest WPA for each team, each game. That makes 6 total guesses (you can name the same player twice if you think they'll do it twice). It does not matter which game the player has the highest WPA. (That is, if you guess "Cespedes," he can lead the A's in any of the three games for you to score points. If he leads in two games, you only get points for one, unless you name him twice.) [2 points each] [12 total]

66 points total. Answers due before first pitch on Friday.
