Can we all agree not to boo Jose?

So the 25th reunion of my personal favorite Athletics team of all time; the 1989 World Champions is finally here this year.

I just checked the list of invitees to the on-field celebration and was pleasantly surprised to see Mr. 40/40 himself, Jose Canseco is actually going to be honored!

Personally, being in my early 30's I was a huge mark for Jose Canseco growing up. Even more than my affection for Rickey, Jose a huge influence on my Athletics fandom.

For A's fans a bit younger than myself, they may not have as many found memories of Jose and only know him from his 2005 book juiced and the unfortunate video of him as a Texas ranger, uh, assisting a home run on the defensive side of the ball.

I also will freely admit that I have never been the most popular blogger on AN due to my strong opinions and have often been banned from the site. I think I am on at least my 5th user account now. But I digress....

All of this being said, I would like to issue a plea/request to those on AN to not boo Jose when he is introduced. I feel that Canseco is a significant individual in the history of the franchise and all things considered, he had a positive impact on the team while he was here.

I am interested to hear other's opinions on the matter, but if at all possible can we come to a gentleman agreement (or gentlewoman, gentle-questioning, gentle-whathaveyou) that we will give Jose Canseco a solid Coliseum cheer when he is introduced on July 19th?

Kind Regards.
