I was so jazzed to see the 1974 A's team reunited this past weekend. I've often said that if I can count the indoor and outdoor Coliseums as one, then the public performance space I've been to most in my lifetime is the Oakland Coliseum complex. That all started with the 1972-74 A's. In 1972, my father and I went to the airport after the World Series win to greet the A's back home. They deked us on the runway landing, but there was a huge tent set up on the tarmac and the team addressed a packed house. So many memories of those years are sketchy, but fond.
I experienced a rush of nostalgia as the team took the field, introduced one by one, then walked to their old position by the current A's starter. Then there was the rush that came over the place when Reggie took the field again in an A's uniform. He looked very happy to bury the ghosts of the old feud.
Just wanted to share this best pic, with labels. Too bad the great Joe Rudi was hiding from me! Looks like I can't post it as a photo here though.
