Game #8: Chavez, Otero and Norris Hailed As Heroes

It certainly has been the strangest start to a season that I've ever seen, as the A's turned a simple, fast, all-but-guaranteed win into a nightmare for their fans, their announcers, the replay team in New York, the umpire staff, the morale of their starting pitching staff, and this recapper, but when all of the dust finally cleared, the A's have their third win in a row, and fifth on the early season.

Game Thread #8 Wacky Season Continues, But A's Win

Behind the three players of the game: Jesse Chavez, Dan Otero and FREE Derek Norris (with an honorable mention to Phil Hughes), the A's went from a sure win, to a sure loss and a opening for the closer role, to an unbelievable win; snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat as they win their third in a row.

Game Thread #8: A's at Twins (4)

Baseball sucks. So does our closer. The A's scored 4 in the first, left a runner on 3rd, and never dreamed that the would need him to score. They haven't scored since, but now that we are in EXTRA INNINGS thanks to another spectacular blown save (FYI, Otero is the only reason this game is still being played), the A's might want to think about scoring another run. We go to the 10th, tied up at 4.

Game Thread #8: A's at Twins (3)

Sam Fuld continues to make his case in the outfield, as he guns down another runner at third base; this time to end the inning and get Jesse Chavez out of his only jam of the day. We go to the 7th; it's 4-1 A's.

Game Thread #8: A's at Twins (2)

So games don't start any better than this one. The A's hung four runs on Phil Hughes in the first inning, all before a single out was recorded. Jesse Chavez has given up a solo home run, and the A's lead 4-1, as we go to the top of the third. The A's would like to not regret the runner they left on third, so LET'S GO OFFENSE!
