GOG 2014 #8 - A's @ Astros - ANSWERS POSTED (in last comment)

Time to feast on the weak.

Athletics

Astros

Do your homework.

Probables

1) Series outcome - 4 games (4 pts)

2) Starting pitching is the name of the game.

a. Name a starter who fails to complete 5 innings (nobody is an acceptable answer). (2 pts)

b. Name a starter who K's 8 or more batters (nobody is an acceptable answer); if you think more than one starter will K 8 or more batters, you are welcome to name more than one, but you will lose a point if that starter does not K 8 or more batters. No negative points to accumulate so worst it will come out is 0 for this section. (2 pts for each correct guess, -1 for each incorrect guess; 0 is lowest you can score)

c. Pick a starter from each team and guess his IP/H/BB/K. (2 pts each for 16 possible)

3) Bullpens are volatile.

a. Name one relief pitcher from each team who gets a save opportunity (nobody is an acceptable answer). (2 pts each for 4 possible)

b. Name a reliever from each team who gives up an ER in the series (nobody is an acceptable answer). (2 pts each for 4 possible)

4) Catchers gonna catch and stuff.

Jason Castro's batting line is .213/.329/.459

Derek Norris' line is .270//325/.459 and John Jaso's .244/.346/.356

For the series, guess each team's XBH/BB/K from the catcher position. (2 pts each for 12 possible)

At the end of the series, whose slugging percentage is higher - Norris' or Castro's? (1 pt)

Also guess how many passed balls in the series total. (1 pt)

5) WPA Starz

Guess the position player WPA "star" for each team, each game. That's three FOUR guess for the A's, three FOUR guesses for the 'stros. You may guess the same player more than once by naming that player more than once. (2 pts each for possible 16)

6) Over / Under

a. 6.5 HR for the series, both teams

b. 4.5 stolen bases for the series, both teams

c. 3.5 errors for the series, both teams

d. 1.5 outfield assists for the series, both teams

e. 27.5 runs scored for the series, both teams

(1 pt each for possible 5)

7) At the end of play on Sunday are the A's back in 1st place in the AL West? (1 pt - tie for 1st = "in first place")

(over 52 points possible, though not likely)

good luck!
