A pleasant good evening to everyone as the Athletics (6-4) get set to take on the Seattle Mariners (6-3) in game two of this three-game set at Safeco Field. I'm jfkoo, and I will be your regular Saturday game threader, and I'm looking forward to a fun and fantastic season ahead.

The Athletics activated Craig Gentry from the 15-day disabled list today, designating Sam Fuld for assignment. Gentry is not in tonight's starting lineup, with Coco Crisp making his first start since getting a cortisone shot last Monday in Minnesota and Josh Reddick in right field after two days off.

Sonny Gray (1-0, 0.75 ERA) takes the hill for the third time for Oakland this season against Seattle's Erasmo Ramirez (1-1, 5.73 ERA), in a rematch of last Sunday's performance at the Coliseum where Gray earned a 6-3 victory. Gray has allowed one earned run in twelve innings pitched this year.

One thing to look out for tonight will be how the Mariners use the bullpen after using three relievers in the eighth inning. Lookout Landing highlighted Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon's questionable maneuvers, where:

  1. Felix Hernandez was allowed to face two batters in the seventh even though he was already up to 100 pitches, and it's April;
  2. He brought in Lucas Luetge to concede a walk;
  3. He brought out a possibly un-warmed Danny Farquahr to first walk in a run and then strike out Josh Donaldson, and then, now that Farquahr seemed in his groove, took him out and
  4. Brought in Charlie Furbush to give up an RBI single, an RBI fielder's choice, and a run-scoring wild pitch before getting Alberto Callaspo to pop out. Fernando Rodney closed out the game.
