Game Thread #132: Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers

Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE

With 31 games left to go in the 2013 regular season, the A's attempt what was thought the impossible just three days ago--win the series from the Detroit Tigers in Detroit. Having taken the first two games from Anibal Sanchez and Justin Verlander, the A's offense now takes on Doug Fister. Starting for the A's will be Dan Straily against the powerful Tigers' lineup, and MVP of everything, Miguel Cabrera.

Happy Wednesday, and welcome back to another exciting night of Oakland Athletics baseball here in 2013! The A's are trying for the impossible in tonight's game; a series win in this four-game series in Detroit against the vaunted Tigers' pitching, and stacked lineup. Game 3 will take place tonight, pitting Dan Straily against Doug Fister. Straily has struggled in his last seven starts, being pulled early in almost every one, and losing five of them. Fister, well, has had no such struggle. But as Tommy Milone proved last night, that's why we play the game.

Red-hot Coco Crisp will be leading off for the A's, and Barton will play first as Moss continues to patrol right field. Sogard and Suzuki will be in the lineup today, and Callaspo will be the DH.
