Giants Fans Sure Do a Lot of Not Caring About the A's...

Don't give me credit for the title, somebody smarter than me said that in the game thread yesterday, but gosh darn it if that isn't the truth. In fact, an article on McCovey Chronicles about how “A lot of A’s fans really hate the Giants” and "Giants fans don't really care about the A's" garnered almost 1300 comments. I haven’t read all the comments but of the ones I have read I’ve been impressed with their ability to express how much they don’t care about us in so many new and unique ways.

I’m sure many of you have read Grant Brisbee’s article, but if not you can check it out here.

Brisbee essentially argues that the A’s displeasure at the Giants over the issue of San Jose territorial rights is “irrational” because there are many other factors and individuals that have contributed to the A’s stadium situation, and that “blaming a single bogeyman seems a little facile”.

To which I say: get over yourselves. You are NOT the sole recipient of our frustration, and to characterize A’s fans as such is ridiculous. We’re mad at Bud Selig, we are mad at Lew Wolff, we’re mad at Jean Quan AND we are mad at you too. Spend 5 minutes on AN and this becomes abundantly clear, it’s not as if we are trying to hide it or something. I know Giants fans don’t care about us or what we think, so hopefully it won’t break their hearts to learn it’s not all about them.

But seriously, Giants fans, it really is not all about you. I mean, congrats on winning the World Series twice in the last three years, congrats on having a beautiful stadium, but you are not the center of the universe. You’re not even the center of the baseball universe. And that’s the part of this that I find extremely frustrating. It seems that a lot of Giants fans are painfully unaware that #1 they come across that way and #2 that it is really annoying to non-Giants fans. Is it because the Yankees don’t play in SF every year? Should we invite Giants fans to A’s/Yankees games, so they can experience for themselves the lack of self awareness that is a Yankees fan? Would Giants fans even be able to make the connection to themselves? I don’t know man. I just don’t know.

Sadly, no Giants fan will read this because, again, they just don’t care about us.

In other news, let’s win today and party like its 1989.
