Game Thread #40 - A's vs. Rangers

Luscious Locks - USA TODAY Sports

After a disastrous 3-7 road trip, the A's return home to face the best team in baseball currently: the 2011 AL West Champion Texas Rangers.

It's the first meeting between these two division rivals since the A's swept them to rise to their improbable 2012 AL West Crown. After having literally nothing go right since New York, it's back home for the A's for three games against Texas, and three more against the upstart Kansas City Royals after them. Who said baseball was an easy game?

The good part about this series is that both Coco Crisp and Chris Young could return for the last game of the series, and Brett Anderson could return to start Friday against KCR. That should hopefully go a long way to ending the A's current funk in basically all aspects of the game. Ideally, the A's would take two of three and begin the KC series at .500. Without facing Yu Darvish, it shouldn't be a huge uphill climb.

The pitchers tonight are Justin Grimm, the reigning AL Rookie of the Month for April, and A.J. Griffin, the reigning Best Hair among AL Starting Pitchers winner for forever. Here are the lineups:
