For old time's sake - Ezra Shaw
In what is a bittersweet moment for A's fans today, we will face off against our own Brandon McCarthy. I'm thrilled he is pitching again, wish he was pitching for us.
If you'd like to add insult to injury today, not only do we have to watch Brandon McCarthy pitch against the A's in today's contest, but we have to cheer for Bartolo Colon. Maybe it's just me, but I could make that switch happily. But in baseball as in life, it is what it is, and the A's are starting Colon today against the Diamondbacks, and their offense will be facing McCarthy. All things aside, I'm thrilled to see him back on the mound and healthy after last year's scare.
We're more than mid-way through Spring Training, and I'm ready to see the A's in Opening Day form. There are still a lot of questions on the field (middle infield, to be precise), but we still have a few weeks to work it all out.
