Ezra Shaw
Silver lining: This happened now instead of the last day of Spring Training. Silver lining #2: Looks like 4-6 weeks, instead of a longer injury. Will he be back and in shape to start the season? And if not, who closes?
From Rotoworld:
Grant Balfour underwent minor right knee surgery on Thursday and will require 4-6 weeks of recovery time.
It doesn't take long for relievers to get geared up physically for the start of the regular season, but Balfour is obviously in danger of not being fully ready. The Athletics will turn to either Ryan Cook or Sean Doolittle for ninth-inning responsibilities if Balfour can't go on Opening Day. It'll be a situation to monitor all spring.
Thoughts?
(And Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!)
