The A's answered a lot of lingering injury questions leftover from the end of the season today:
A recent MRI revealed that Parker has a right forearm strain which will only require rest during the offseason. #Athletics— Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) October 14, 2013
Gray, who also underwent a MRI, has sustained an UCL tear of his left thumb, which will require surgery at a date still TBD. #Athletics— Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) October 14, 2013
Reddick is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his sprained right wrist. #Athletics— Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) October 14, 2013
So that's a big sigh of relief on the former two players. That being said, this is how Brett Anderson started out: velocity drop, forearm strain diagnosis, and then we all know what happened after that. Since Gray's surgery will be on his left thumb, he should be at full strength for Spring Training.
I think we all realized that Reddick needed surgery at some point, and the offseason will give him time to recover. I don't think he would be traded, but if it he is, it shouldn't hamper his value from an injury perspective
