Inge says he recognizes one of his main assets is his defense and he can't play the field anymore. With the A's depth and the current run they are enjoying, Melvin couldn't guarantee him much in terms of usage as a DH or pinch hitter.
"Hitting has not been a problem for me at all," Inge said. "I just wanted to let him know the option is there. I would do anything for him, I'd take a bullet for that guy."
Just goes to show what an impact Melvin has had on this amazing team. Great to hear that Inge will still be a presence in the clubhouse and in the dugout.
