As the Minor League Affiliates enter the last month of Regular season games, I believe its a fair time to evaluate how our top pitching prospects are doing and who should be considered our Top Pitching Prospect in our farm.
Before the season, with the bunch of trades Beane made in the offseason, we saw our farm system restock with high level prospects, and our prospect talks went around Parker, Cole, Peacock, Griffin and Gray.
Almost a season later, Parker & Griffin graduated already and are positioning themselfs as locks on our rotation for years to come, Peacock is going through a difficult season at the PCL, Gray is finishing the year strong, and Cole failed to survived the Cal League, but its dominating the Midwest League.
Now, this year we saw an under the radar prospect raises from nowhere. Straily took the Texas League by assault, dominated the PCL after the all star break, and now he is pitching in Oakland. The most impressive season from any pitching prospect in our system, comparable only to Doolittle's fast development (maybe).
Other good prospects that saw their stock increase value this season are Drew Granier and Michael Ynoa (he is finally pitching!!)
Overall, despite the fact that we have plenty of rookies performing extremly well in the Major League level, the farm is still very strong and deep in pitching prospects, but, who is our best prospect? Straily? Cole? Gray? Peacock?
