Is Chili Davis that great?

Been watching all year, seeing an amazing decline in BA for several hitters. And I cannot help but wonder, who else do we look at but Chili? Hired as the Hitting Coach.

Last year, Jemile Weeks joined the team somewhere in midseason, and showed signs of greatness. He hit .303, in some 400 ABs. Cliff Penington hit .264. Sweeney whom they gave up hit .265 And others who had decent BAs, Hideki, Wilingham.

Admittedly, not great oveall, but one heckuva lot better than this year.

Enter Chili Davis, new hitting coach.

Jemile is a joke hitting wise, and now plays for the River Cats.Went from .303 to pathetic.

Penninton too couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper bag. Never a great hitter, but a good hitter for years, now couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper bag

What is different? Well, Chili Davis for one. I hear a lot of reverence for this guy, and yup, he had a very good career. BUT since he started as their hiting coach, they barely have a clue. They have won games with3 or 4 hits, because the rookie pitchers turn in some superb performances at times.

Not sure what is so great about Chili Davis. I only know that last year Jemile Weeks looked like one of the most promising rookies in MLB. Now he plays for AAA. I only know that Cliff P was alwasy a decent hitter, now he barely understands the concept. I only know that Seth Smith is not performing near his ability.. hitting .240 et al et al

I don't hate Chili Davis, nor even dislike him. He was an excellent player. I just thing facts are facts. Since he became their hitting coach, the team overall BA has gone form mediocre to pathetic.

The sorest point for me being Jemile. How do you go from .303 in one season to total crap the next. Why does Cliff Pennington go from a decent hitter to one who barely understands the concept? Why is Seth Smith hitting .240

I can only look at the hitting coach.
