The Oakland Athletics are in the market for a shortstop, and their top two choices are still Stephen Drew of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Yunel Escobar of the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
The A’s are in the market for a shortstop, and their top two choices are still seen as Stephen Drew and Yunel Escobar.
The now high-flying A’s remain interested in the Chase Headley market, but a match isn’t seen as likely for them.
Heyman notes that the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners could also have an interest in adding a shortstop this summer, possibly increasing the cost any trade might incur. He says Drew is a "better possibility" for the A’s, and that the Mariners could be interested in Escobar. Heyman believes Minnesota Twins infielder Jamey Carroll could also be traded.
SB Nation MLB News is a service provided by the SB Nation News Desk to help the Athletics Nation staff stay on top of breaking news and the latest trade rumors. As many of you know, most of us have day jobs, and sometimes we're unable to hit breaking news quickly, or beyond inserting an "update" into an existing post, which is less than optimal. So while SB Nation MLB News isn't a member of the AN staff, per this story introducing the new feature they will be occasionally posting articles for us in an effort to make sure that you are provided with the most up-to-date breaking news as it's happening. Thanks. -Nico
